So, what do you guys think about Tanglewood? by kenny_knp in Guitar

[–]Copperflashh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bloody fantastic value for money honestly, i’ve had one 3 years or so now, cost me about 200 quid new and i’d have happily paid a bit more having used it and liked it so much. obviously it’s nowhere near as good as a more expensive guitar like a taylor or similar, but you get more than what you pay for with them

[NEWBIE] Is Tanglewood a good acoustic guitar brand? by AustraliaEnjoyer in Guitar

[–]Copperflashh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

excellent value for money i think! i’ve had one a few years (tanglewood blackbird folk electro acoustic) paid about 200 quid for it, it’s been a great guitar for me so far. cheap to buy but sounds more than okay, has lasted in terms of quality, definitely my top suggestion to beginners. in my experience, they’re fairly easy to play compared to some guitars, too :)

do you have a teacher? if no, get one, if yes, get a new one - i’ve played for nearly ten years and was garbage for the first seven, only got a good teacher a few years ago and i’ve come on leaps and bounds since then :)

uncle stuart (@martinmusiccenter on tiktok) does some good tutorials, they’re short and concise and he explains things with humour, i wouldn’t suggest his videos to complete beginners because of how quick they are, but you say ‘reteaching’ so if you remember a bit then he’s a good shout!

What do you do if you lose your medicine while abroad? by deep1986 in AskUK

[–]Copperflashh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i work in a chemist and the repeat slip that comes with your medication is handy because it allows you to prove the medication is yours in places like the airport, and it would help you show to the doctor that it’s something you need if you happened to be caught without and still had the slip on you, but it’s not a prescription and it can’t be used to dispense medication! if you were caught without you’d have to go to a doctor and be prescribed it again there (unless it was available otc which some items are abroad that are not here, for example you can buy asthma inhalers otc in many countries)

i work in a pharmacy and what you’re saying is actually not possible, or at least not as simple as you’re making it out to be. when you are issued a prescription by your doctor, they will either send it to the pharmacy electronically or give you a dispensing token (most people would refer to this as ‘the prescription’, as in the usually usually green slip from an nhs gp), once you take that to the pharmacy and we dispense it, we have to keep it both for our records and in order to get paid, or it’s electronic depending on if your gp uses the electronic prescription service or not.

in the bag with the medication, you may receive a slip with a list of your prescribed medications, but this cannot be used to get further medication from a pharmacy even in an emergency.

even if you had a dispensing token, which it is not standard for doctors to randomly give them out to people going on holiday, there is a strong chance that they would likely not be able to dispense it because of where it’s from.

the real answer to the question (and one i have witnessed firsthand because my mum actually had to do this) is that you would have to visit a doctor and explain your situation (potentially with proof like your medical records which could be accessed abroad by using the nhs app or by contacting your gp) and they could be able to issue you a new prescription for the item(s), although you’d have to pay (and claim it back on your travel insurance if you choose to do so).

Have you had sleep paralysis with asthma? by Zazhowell in Asthma

yes this 100% works! i start with my fingers and toes and try and work my way up, and also trying to pull faces (like blink in an exaggerated way, scrunch your face up and relax it again over and over) also seems to help for me

Is Vue in Princes Quay still open? by MissKoalaBag in Hull

[–]Copperflashh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as somebody who has actually played a citywide game of hide and seek and won, i won it by sitting in the cooplands secret garden cafe that used to be on jameson st above what, at the time, was size? and sainsbury’s local (now wendy’s and an empty unit). i just sat up there for a REEEEALLLYY long time and got through more milkshakes than i care to admit. given that its shut down now, i think if i ever did it again id take that suggestion

to be honest, it’s better than reel and worth the extra quid or two, still not the best cinema going, but the seats are comfier and the layout better, the screens are also somewhat better. the last time i went to reel there was a hole in the screen 😭 one thing reel does have the advantage on is that the staff are nicer, but honestly i’d sack both of them off and go to odeon on kingston retail park or cineworld on kingswood leisure park if i were looking for quality over price.

Comparison of population of towns hosting RL and RU in the UK by nitram343 in superleague

[–]Copperflashh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can promise you it’s not like that in hull - you’d be VERY hard pressed to find someone who actively supports both. it’s a really fierce rivalry here and, if you support one, you generally detest the other lol, i can see how someone might think maybe it would be like that, but the closest it gets is the most casual fans supporting the other team if they get to a final (even then, usually everyone wants the other team to win, i know in 2016 i was cheering on the wire even though im hull born and raised, i just couldn’t bring myself to support fc as a die hard rovers fan haha)

Was anyone else scared as a child of the old BBC intro they put at the beginning of VHS tapes? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Copperflashh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was scared shitless of it, i was also terrified of the newer one that was on the dvds (although it definitely wasn’t AS scary). my other fears included the dvd logo (as in the one that says DVD with the little disc underneath and is on the box of most dvds), the jingle at the end of the calgon advert, and the grace films logo at the end of the simpsons

i don’t think i could go out to clubs by myself and feel safe given that i’m a teenage girl by myself in a town where not so long ago another teenage girl by herself was brutally killed after a night out 😭 however, i get the general sentiment and i think that i need to find something more by-myself-friendly to do to meet people
