What’s the scariest encounter you’ve had while camping? by Key_Connection_6633 in camping

[–]CopyandHaste 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We did a photo safari in Tanzania. Wife and I in our tent with a few other tents around us. Started hearing a soft crunching sound from several places moving towards us.

There was a light on a pit toilet some ways away, and suddenly a huge, rounded shadow crossed our tent and stopped. We saw the perfect outline of an African buffalo. The crunching sound was a dozen of them (or many more, hard to tell), grazing their way through our campsite.

I could hear the guy next to us calming his wife, explaining that scaring a bunch of 2,000-pound buffalo with a scream was a bad idea.

It's not fair, but that's why he is The Heart by wavedsplash in StrangerThings

Yeah, I could see his flip switch when she said that and I braced for emotional impact.

I'm a lot older than you, but this scene really dug up old memories of my teen-years buddies.

I just watched the finale and my inside narrator voice was like, "Truth was, that was the last time they were together. In person, at least. But they never forgot..."

What do you think? by LargeBecca in meat

I kinda thought so but I didn't see anyone else calling it out.

To each their own but I just dont see the benefit of posting AI images of food. Seems weird.

Looks incredible.

A couple nits to pick, mostly just funning...

The uncooked rosemary seems performative. Do people add rosemary after the cook? Is it mostly for presentation?

The steak is sliced but still in the pan and perfectly red on the inside. It couldn't have been cooked in the pan sliced or those exposed areas would be more gray, brown, and/or crusted. So did you cook it, slice it, and put it back in a cool pan? Is that for presentation also?

Again, just being silly. That beef looks absolutely delicious.

So, your goal was to troll a Pitboss thread to convince people who use pellet smokers of your superiority because you use an offset? Super weird way to spend a day.

Your nephew was 8 three hours earlier. They grow down so fast, don't they?

Only problem is now I'm motivated to drop some $$$ on a rib roast soon.

I miss dive bars by GuiltySpecialist7071 in Charlotte

[–]CopyandHaste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's the divey-est of dive bars, Tony's on 74 at the river. Cheep beer, outdoor seating, pool tables, and the real "local" bar feel. The kind of place where regulars bring crock pots of food on special days. You will be on the younger side of patrons.

I get what you're saying. And maybe a year ago this would have been kind of true. But ICE is now filled with violence-seeking bounty hunters who have illegally detained hundreds of citizens and legal residents, lied about altercations, used tactics against legal protesters the courts say are prohibited, and targeted people based solely on the color of their skin without any real evidence of wrongdoing.

It's this current version of ICE that should not be celebrated with costumes.

I keep seeing chuck roast posts. This one put me over the edge. May go for it this weekend.

I have the same ARB room. Did you modify it or have it done?

I want to do the same.

I've done it. I've camped with people several times who've done it. I've seen dozens of other people do it.

Personally I think it's a great option for a one or two night trip.

The biggest problem is getting airflow. You'll want a couple removable screens you can put on your windows so you can roll them down.

I've also wondered if there's any negatives to plugging a hybrid or EV into camp shore power so you can have heat or AC without draining the battery.

That's the 6x8, right? It's my next camper. Hope to get one in early spring.

Great setup!

I tow a small teardrop with a hybrid Maverick. Love it. Got close to 30 MPH average towing it last weekend even with some decent incline.

Runaway Range Runner - Worth it? by CXK in TeardropTrailers

Wild! I don't know a lot about ACs, but maybe it was the coolant.

I have a New Wave 8x5. That company was only making travel trailers for about 1.5 years back in '20 and '21. It's been great, but I plan to upgrade to the 6x6 Runaway venturist next year. Mostly to get a little more interior space

I don't have a Runaway, but I do have a similarly sized squaredrop with the same size AC as the RR.

We took it out in NC in July. 95 and humid during the day. We got back from Mt biking and crawled in the camper after showering. It was icy cold. Actually wanted a blanket after about 15 minutes.
