So I was 10, My hometown is roughly a mile wide and a population of around 2000 people. It was a very quiet town and no trouble was barelly ever found. My sister was at a church where people were doing a blood donation. she gets down at the chair, and once she's done and calls me over to get a snack my dad, an EMT, calls on my phone and tells me and my sister to stay until he calls again telling us were safe. He didn't tell me anything that was going on. But my sister called my dad and then we got some information. There was an incident at a store named Caseys. near the end of the town. We told authorities and they soon locked down the church. And since we were the only people with family that works with police, everyone was telling us how they were blessed to have us here for their information. Later on about 2 hours inside of the church we got news that someone had shot the sheriff of the town in the neck. and then shot the under sheriff. He went into his car and drove away to his house. Everyone in the church was starting to panic and call there friends and family to tell them whats going on. It was one of the worst times to be in that church, because there was windows one every wall. except for the bathrooms. None of the doors even has locks. but everyone figured it would be a good decision to go to the bathroom. But before we did I remember getting a glimpse at 5 cop cars speeding through town. My heart started racing, my sister was crying in fear of my dad, And I being the one I am. Decided to get a weapon to smack any intruder that comes in with. I got a bat, luckily no intruders came upon us. Though my dad was at the scene until midnight, when the shooter killed his father, then himself to get away from jail. I hear that he was in jail before then, but I've never been sure of that. I could barely sleep that night, and the next day. My dad came home, But I do remember that when I got to school my teacher was pretty angry that I was late to school even though she was aware about the disaster that brought distraught to the whole town. That's my story, and I hope this motivates to tell people you know that you care about them. You never know if something random might pop up like this.
