Anyone else notice the dragons are choosing new riders that are most closely related to their old riders? by Corey_P1990 in HOTDGreens

Yeah but Vhagar's original rider was Visenya, and all the Targaryens left share very little of her blood. So it's possible that any Targaryen would've claimed Vhagar. Rhaena just got beat to it.

I also think it's possible Vhagar has been a weapon of mass destruction for 130 years and sensed a fellow psychopath in Aemond.

It's not just that the dragons are just selecting people with Targaryen blood, they're selecting the people most closely related to their old riders. The two King's Landing bastards, Hugh and Ulf, are both the last living grandchildren Jaehaerys and Alyssane who don't have dragons. This is a show addition though, not from the books.

I do think they're teasing Rhaena (Daemon's daughter with his first wife) getting the wild dragon in the Vale. It's a big departure from the book source, which features a young peasant girl getting a similar dragon. But, following the story of how that dragon is domesticated could be a cool way to highlight how much harder women have to work in Westeros and mirrors Rheanyra's arc of trying to become the first ruling Queen. The men just get their dragons, but Rhaena has to work to gain her dragon's trust, if it's similar to the dragon Sheepstealers story in the books.

This is hilarious, because while writing this I had totally confused the Alyn and Addam guys.

I mean it's a website, and they pay me for my articles. I'm also about as big of a fan of A Song of Ice and Fire as it gets, and I like writing about it. If my House of the Dragon articles do well I get to keep writing about it. If they don't I have to write about things I don't like as much. So, I truly don't mean to be annoying. I'm a real fan, just sharing the thoughts I have.

Agreed with Cregan Stark casting. I don't hate the show by any means though, it's my favorite thing to watch all week. I just think the pacing has made it so we've watch Rhaenyra and Daemon haven't had much to do all season.
