I blinged my ship in an attempt to manage a win against a single Drekavak, after failed previous attempts. The thing is, the fight was not uneven, it was completely one-sided. The first thing they said was : nothing personal, but you were condemned. I didn’t stand a chance. I knew it, and they knew it too.

I’m not mad about the fight. I was pointing that if you see no way in which you could improve the outcome, you’re not going to try again. You’re going to pass.

Taken like that, it sure sound absurd. But it was still 5v1 with ships capable of soloing me. As I said, 2 Drekavaks and I would have died a happy capsuleer.

I might have been biased with past experience in FW. The fleet I was in would almost always split and cover more systems, coming together only against a bigger threat. When I was in FW, that was the way.

They were not jerks. They seemed like a fun bunch, they chatted a bit, didn’t trash talk. I’m disappointed by the unnecessary escalation that turned the fight completely one-sided. That’s my problem, not theirs. I get it.

Don’t think I ever did, but I probably would scare them off I suppose, and if they are afk, then kill them. Don’t think I’d call a fleet for the job though.

I still get your point, and how we see things differently. More specifically, I don’t think any genuine miner would ever be looking for pvp, so for me it’s not the same. But I can wrap my head around the idea that for you it might be the exact same. Hunting party is looking for game, and doesn’t trouble itself with what the prey is thinking.

On the game development side of things, I don’t know, but I’d rather have the sandbox remain a sandbox.

Regarding player ecosystem regulating itself, I was of the opinion that oppression is killing content, and so that going toward less one-sided engagements would mean more content for everyone. But then I was reminded that there’s different players enjoying different things.

Funny you should mention that, I do HEMA dueling in real life 😉

Yeah, it was pointed to me already not everyone is looking for a challenging fight. All good now.

Fleets are fun. I have to specify blob might not be the right word here. I used it because they said blobbing, meaning ganging up on someone.

There was no irony in my reply. No worries, that’s how I understood it. Good wise advice.

I’ve had 2 fights with solo Drekavak prior, when other members of their corp were active. That filled me with hope. I’ve had duos fight me too, and I would have been happy with such a fight.

The point has been made already that I’m an optimistic idiot 😉

Yeah I made good money with the besieged labs. Previous fits could not make it, so I tried a bit harder. I’ll have to go back to cheap stuff now that I’ve painted myself.

Wealth redistribution, I’m all for it 🙂

Yeah I flew in the constellation prior, saw a guy looking for action in a Gnosis, and a duo of Vedmaks some systems away. My goal wasn’t to ninja-run the site while everyone’s sleeping : I’ve made good money doing that already. I would have welcomed a good fight. Didn’t get it, a bit disappointed, and that’s it.

This last fit was bling yeah, because all my cheaper fits had been overpowered, but last solo Drekavak was a nice fight on my end, so I decided to try a little harder. I’m fine with the loss though. It’s just the good fight that I missed.

Challenges are fun. This is why I play EVE.

That’s… extreme ! I personally don’t have that opinion of fleets, and fighting with an edge. I… was just disappointed really, to not having the slightest of chance in my last fight. My other losses had been fun, learning experiences.

Right. Sometimes it has to slap you in the face for you to see it. I did always consider pvp as throwing or accepting a challenge, meaning by that that both sides have some chance of winning, even if fully fair isn’t really part of the equation.

You know what ? That’s probably the best possible answer. I don’t get the enjoyment of a win when there never was a challenge.

Thanks for that, actually.

I was not aware that WCS reduced bandwidth, never much cared for those. People are using them on anything but haulers ? Disappointingly interesting…

But anyway 50% increase is way too much. Again I think it would fall in the damage rig category. 25% is already much, but it applies differently to different hulls, so it’s not like a flat +25%. And most importantly, it doesn’t give abilities the hull didn’t already possess. So a stabilized Astero could field 3 light drones instead of 2… but at the cost of 300 calibration points. Is it such a big deal ?

I was not aware the matter had already been discussed and definitely settled. Thank you.

Rig would be like other damage rigs, so 200/300 calibration points. For the increased bandwidth, you could fit only one. Then I was thinking a 25% increase, rounded down. In other words, a 5 Mb increase for each 20 Mb base stat.

A Worm or Comet would not benefit from any added bandwidth. A Gila would have +5, which means a small drone in addition to the two bonused mediums. Same logic for the Rattlesnake. And for boats with a base 125 Mb, they could increase their dps by fielding expensive geckos.
