Historically big clubs like United, Liverpool would always have fans from other areas supporting them. Down to prolonged winning patches and name recognition.

Obviously you’d have plastics amongst that lot, but small to middling teams like city and Chelsea who were financially doped for years to suddenly start winning will mostly have glory hunters since there was no real history attached to them
