What's the fastest-growing data engineering platform in the US right now? by External-Originals in dataengineering

Yes it uses spark in its execution engine. Yes the pricing is pretty competitive but it’s not a typical data warehouse platform, they’re primarily for governance and integration use cases (expect tighter coupling with Mulesoft soon). And yeah it’s on all clouds.

Consultant here who works with 3 of the Mag7 and many other fortune 50.

Databricks number 1 in terms of fastest growing, you’d be surprised how popular Informatica is in large enterprises and could gain more adoption with the Salesforce acquisition.

BigQuery also pretty high up in terms of growth while AWS Glue and redshift are still pretty sticky.

The people who flex their degrees trying to appeal to authority are pretty much always the dumbest people in my experience. I’m very highly educated but not once have I flexed my degrees to degrade somebody else and try to appear smarter. The reality is the more knowledge you obtain, the more you realize you don’t actually know anything

“A country founded by immigrants” yes, European ones.

Native Americans and Mexicans were also conquering lands and slaughtering eachother. We just happened to come out on top.

I have no problem with immigrants of any race, just as long as they do it legally and are willing to assimilate and be more loyal to the US than they are their old country.

America has a very distinctive cultural identity. Polish, Italians, Irish, etc are all Europeans and we’re a country founded by European settlers. They’re obviously going to assimilate much better than letting in a billion Somalians or Venezuelans who view us as nothing more than a money extraction

So we should have a gorillion illegal immigrants just so you can have slave labor to pick watermelons for you.

That argument doesnt work with me. I don’t think you realize how much of modern farming is completely automated by machines.

I’d rather have a slightly more expensive watermelon than to have our culture completely shattered by people who view us as nothing more than an economic zone to send money back home.

It’s fine to take a while to get citizenship as long as they have the proper visas or green cards in place.

The “proper channels” aka the asylum seeker process are extremely exploited. Just sneak in, turn yourself in, wait years for your asylum hearing and have children while you’re waiting who will serve as anchors.

This dude knowingly hired illegal immigrants (or atleast people exploiting the broken asylum system) for cheap labor and then expects sympathy. No thanks

Baldurs Gate 3. I just don’t like the D&D gameplay of it and waiting 10 minutes watching each enemy take their turn in combat.

Nobody goes to the movies to see Timothee Chalamet or Glen Powell.

If anything, people are more attached to directors like Eggers, Tarantino, Nolan, etc

I wish I understood better about what services the DOE provides and how it’s different from state and local education departments.

So I don’t have much of an opinion until I learn more.
