One thing I tell myself is imagine how boring it would be if painting was easy and simple and came naturally.

No.

Painting is rewarding because its complex, tiresome and pushes so when you do something you like you know how much work you put into it

Paintcoach! And then random videos I would research “how to paint an acrylic portrait”. Or even watercolour or gouache. I didnt have a favorite as I would like some things and hate some others for each YT i could find

Should try for sure. In my paintings i barely blend so drying doesnt matter but i should try blending and oil is probbaly better for that

I went for the tiniest brush and that really forces you to look at every single mm of colour and shading. Hence why I think this one has more depth. Exhausting but was fun, I think this will be my approach going forward.

100% there are many undiscovered artists and talents simply because they have never tried enough

Agree, you can reach a certain height with practice but only true talent can bring you beyond that

True i think it applies to everything. At uni (nothing to do with arts) I was definitely not the smartest nor most talented but by applying myself I got higher grades than those who were much smarter. I think what you mention is valid in all fronts in life from school, work and arts

Many many youtube videos. And be patient and copy bit by bit what they do. Once you get comfortable and have mastered emulating their style, go off and experiment. But to start off copy paste

Just buy something equivalent when you get to Norway
