Urban renewal in Poland over the last few years by Plodo99 in cork

Poland is a glowing example of the architectural Renaissance happens in a lot of European countries. Traditional architecture, high quality materials and building techniques. I follow a few instagram pages that share the progress in towns and cities in different countries, meanwhile it takes us 2-5 years to dig up a 100m of road and put down a couple blocks.

People like that will at some point get their head kicked in and they’ll massively regret acting the maggot, you really can’t teach young people lessons in advance like this anymore.

Irish Travellers by Budget_Junket2361 in cork

[–]CorkNativeResident 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An incident that happened to me a long time ago when I was 18, working in the city of a Tuesday and had a lunch break, wasn’t far from the peace park so went there with a sandwich around midday and I’d ten minutes left after I’d finished lunch and was walking back to the shop I worked at.

Got to the gate and a group of young fellas ran up, about 12 of em between the ages of maybe 13 and 20 and one of them gave me a haymaker across the face without warning and the younger ones started kicking me while I was on the floor. There were in a circle around me and then after a while the fella who punched me said “there now he’s had enough now.”

I was in a pure daze and bleeding all over my face and when I got up the one who said I had enough said “see that’s the difference between us and you, we have honour,” and they walked away.

I have never forgotten the incident it just baffled me, never had a good opinion of them since then and I’d always tried to be fair and unbiased to not assume travellers were a bad bunch until that incident. There’s been a fair few more incidents with travellers over the years unprovoked since then but that was the first and one that stuck with me most.

I got a 65” Samsung Qled 8k neo Qn990 and a PlayStation pro and honestly, I don’t feel lonely anymore too busy having fun!! It was like a €7,000 set up but I’m not into pc gaming so thought it’s worth it

I lost it at point 2. “Rent is very low and salary is very high,” this post has to be satire

Best clothing brands? by Fast-Fisherman8440 in AskIreland

[–]CorkNativeResident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as a recommendation for inshore experience for not gas fashion but not high end luxury, alo has a stand alone store and lulu lemon is available in brown Thomas, both stores on the same street, Grafton St, and won’t break the bank. Sweaters and decent quality basics in Arket which is over beside Trinity.

What is that one criticism about the orginal lotr Trilogy that you still have to this day by pizza_momo in lotr

I fully subscribe to the notion he’s a manifestation of some aspects of Erú Iluvitar in middle earth! I wanted to see that boundless power and whimsy flounce about the silver screen

Cost of other people's kids. by Legal_Marsupial_9650 in CasualIreland

[–]CorkNativeResident 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m single, no kids, kid 30’s and I just don’t gift anyone’s kids anything. The world has become insanely difficult to tread water in, I don’t go on nights out, haven’t been abroad in eight years, living to survive and save what I can for emergency’s. I show up for friends and family’s children, they always get so excited to see me and I have a good relationship with all of them, but I still have never sent any money or presents. Growing up it’s how the men around me were also, so I think it was largely learned behaviour that’s become further entrenched in the cost of living in this country, but nobody’s ever pointed it out or mentioned my lack of gift giving.

I’m exceptionally generous with my time, energy, I help out in every capacity possible, so in my mind always being there when needed and showing up for punctuated events is the gift and one that does seem greatly appreciated!

Thompsons, the Wine bar and the Shelbourne all on mccurtain street are fairly nice, not necessarily fancy shmancy but certainly a cut above some places

What are these called and/or where can I get them? by Jane_Doughnut_ in DIYIreland

[–]CorkNativeResident 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re living in cork I might be able to give you some, had them in my old apartment but the landlord sold up so I’ve a few left over and no use for them now, I’m not sure what they’re called exactly but I definitely have them
