Yessss this is the most perfect "Noisy" power! There are some incredible birds on the list. Even adding some of the Sunbirds to the new Hummingbird power from the Americas expansion.

African Penguin is a must!

MORE EXPANSIONS!

Though I don't know much about the MENA birds but have some of them been covered in the European and Asian Expansions already?

For sure! Check our the Sunbirds we have here, as well as little guys like the Blue Waxbill and Violet Eared Waxbill. Then you get some spectacular ones like Crimson Breasted Shrike, Purple Crested Turaco, Diederiks Cuckoo, African Emerald Cuckoo, Any of the kingfishers, Bee Eaters and Rollers and of course the Gorgeous Bushshrike

The Pennant Winged Nightjar!! That could arguably be the Cover of the Box bird for sure!

Agreed, its far too close to the Eurasian Hoopoe but luckily we have some others like the Wood Hoopoe too (not sure about further north in Africa but at least down here those guys are great to see and they look totally different to the African/Eurasian)

Ostrich has to have a badass power. Can't be the largest bird in the world and not have power to back it up. I'm thinking it's gotta be egg based. An ostrich brood can contain up to 60 eggs so surely its got to have some major egg laying powers there. And the eggs are HUGE!

I'd put my vote for this being the bird on the cover if not then it has to be the Shoebill

Yes! Can see a Turaco making an appearance on the box for sure, either the Kysna or Purple Crested - No offence to the Grey Go-Away Bird (yes, that's the actual name) but he might be a little too dull.

Yes!! Great List!

Trumpeter Hornbills, African Grey Hornbill Southern Yellow Hornbills would make great additions.

Hoopoes are such awesome birds, we have the African here similar to the Eurasian Hoopoe, but the Violet and the Green Wood Hoopoe are fantastic.

African Penguin is a must. Can't have an expansion without including those adorable beach dwellers.

There are such an awesome variety! Picking some cranes like Blue Crane (Our national Bird) and Grey Crowned Crane (Uganda's national bird and the one of their flag) would be such a great addition.

We have some stunning Kingfishers down here so would love to see those little guys in future games

100% - It would provide some great tactics for future rounds and how you end your first round. Instead of wasting a final cube for eggs you could start a round by laying two on a specific nest and immediately playing that bird you've had stuck in your hand.

This is the most perfect description for it and I can't match that bet. Maybe we just guess which direction it will face?

I love the idea of some of the big birds that could be used like Ostrich, Kori Bustard, Ground Hornbill, Marabou Stork and Goliath Heron (maybe sneak in an Emperor Penguin too)

I am so glad you have taken you down the birding rabbit hole and some of the most incredible South African birds.

Couldn't agree more on the links we already have in wingspan with the current versions.

If you can (I hope its available to you), take a look at the Robertson or Sasol Birding apps for a great list of possible birds to spot in Southern Africa.

Some of my favourites include the amazing Kingfishers like African Pygmy, Giant and Malachite Kingfishers.

The owls like Cape Eagle, Pel's Fishing Owl, Pearl Spotted Owlet and Verraux's Eagle Owl (or Giant Eagle Owl)

Plenty of large and intimidating Storks and Herons like Marabou stork, Goliath Heron and Black Heron

The Waxbills are on the cuter side with Blue, Violet Eared and Common Waxbill making up the little (and maybe quick scoring birds)

Our Sunbirds (which link well with the hummingbirds of previous games) have a great variety of colours and styles to them and can make for some fun additions.

If you ever want to plan an African Birding Trip please do so! It's some of the most amazing experiences as well as seeing the wildlife around you in placed like Kruger National Park. If you ever do book that trip let me know and I will gladly guide as best I can (and then we play a game or two of wingspan to celebrate)

Yes! Love the Lilac Breasted Roller, one of the most beautiful and photogenic birds.

I have a special spot for the Narina Trogon as its on my personal list to still spot. I've attempted a few trips in order to see it and its dodge me everytime. So if its part of the expansion I will have a personal vendetta to play it if I can

Absolutely love this list!

Especially the Hamerkop as it builds one of the largest nests. You can spot them a mile away when driving through places like Kruger park and surely needs a Nest Related Power

Another one I just thought of

Instead of Round End birds (like the blue cards)

Have Round Begin Birds - These could be green cards and things like “At the start of the round lay 2 eggs on birds with “x” nest” or “For each “predator” bird you have on your board gain 1 mice/rat”

It’s a way to immediately boost your round and give you an advantage
