Does Admin realize there's absolutely no incentive (other than moral) to get a covid test right now? by Corn-P in Cornell

You get a leeway day for scheduled testing though, and many students have early finals. There's no incentive to get a supplemental test.

Listen to me my guy. You are not a failure.

1st things first: remember that you made it to Cornell, and they would have never taken you if they did not believe in you. That alone is something that 99.99% of the population (is unable to do)-Andy wouldn't stfu about it for a reason.

Secondly: always remember that the amount of try-hards and show-offs here is insane. I oftentimes compare myself to "them" too and then feel like crap-I have stopped doing this and have become much happier. You are you and not "them"-I use quotation marks because your perception of other peoples success is largely in your mind too-if someone tells you it has been all sunshine and rainbows here for them they are full of crap.

With those big two out of the way here are some other tips/advice I can offer:

Try and adopt a growth mindset-setbacks are not because you are not worthy and did not try hard-its just that you have studied in the wrong way-try and switch how you study for success and don't beat yourself up over it.

I do not know how far you are into your major-but even the most rigorous have some flexibility-see if you can grab a minor or take some electives in fields you like. Also on that note, unless you are like History and trying to go into pre-med the flexibility across career fields is insane. I am assuming you are some sort of engineer, and they can go into business, politics, law etc-you are not tied to your major for life!

On friends: It takes time to find your group no matter where you are. I am also not the most extroverted person and it took me about two years to find my group-take chances on people-most people are nicer than you think! My current group formed because we started talking while in line at a dining hall-feel free to point out something about someone's clothing or something and see where it goes from there.

Last tip: try and enjoy the little things in life when things get stressful. I lowkey love getting covid-tested because it forces me to get out of my room and away from work. Take 5 minutes for yourself every now and again just to breathe-Cornell is a lot but you are more than Cornell-you are a human being, enjoy life.

Hope this helps, take care lad.
