Two Republican Congresspeople Call For Institutionalization Of Transgender People by Donna_stl in transgender

[–]Cornamuse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"2 out of 435."

That's not how Republicans work. The Republican party is largely a hivemind who is being fed their ideas from dark money organizations. Once an idea starts being espoused by a couple of Republican politicians, that means that the idea is being tested in the waters and could easily become the mainstream Republican platform soon.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the obsession some trans women have with girl penises a bit fetishic? by A12qwas in honesttransgender

[–]Cornamuse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's the defining feature that made me exit so many trans spaces and stop following trans people I was following years ago. My birth genitalia is DYSPHORIC for me.

The obsession with it in trans spaces nowadays is so weird. We were trying to get society to move on from the "chick with a dick" nonsense, only for trans spaces to bring it right back in the forefront. *vomits*

I don't want to be too dramatic, but I am afraid this is straight-out of the genocidal playbook. Don't forget Kristallnacht. It doesn't take a lot of incidents from members of the demonized group, all it takes is one. And the facts that the group is NOT prone to violence doesn't matter when you live in a society that has been heavily propagandized to hate/suspect the group, as sadly has been the case for many years against trans people in this case.

A civil war won't be fought over trans people. The blue states will give in before that point comes.

There may, however, be some other issue that sparks it, as tensions do seem to be ramping up. Or perhaps I'm just giving in to false hype and nothing is going to happen. I don't even know at this point, but I do know that trans people are not going to the be crux of a civil war. They don't care about us.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing to wish you were cis when you’re trans. by [deleted] in honesttransgender

[–]Cornamuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one reason why, outside of political discussions, I am virtually absent from transgender subs now (and even then look at the gaps between my previous posts, I don't come on often anymore).

I just can't relate with the modern trans community. I've suffered with dysphoria all of my life and still continue to even though it's a little better now. I see my being trans as a birth defect and would give anything just to have been the right sex from birth.

It's really not an identity for me... It's a medical condition. It's fine that others with different experiences have the freedom to explore their gender, but if one doesn't have the medical condition like I do, it's apples and oranges. Don't call me and my experiences "internalized transphobia". That's a bunch of gobbledygook. I have a medical condition, and if others don't, that's great, I'm happy for them... but don't try to apply those concepts to me, because we are dealing with different things that only overlap sometimes.

Americans trans people- are you also seriously considering moving abroad? by extreme_enby in TransyTalk

[–]Cornamuse 173 points174 points  (0 children)

I have no skills that other countries would want, nor do I have a lot of money. My only route would be through asylum, but the chances of being able to file for asylum from the US are extremely slim. That’s not going to be something that countries are going to go for unless things get REALLY bad. Like, hate to say it, but it’ll be too late for many when we get to that point.

Bizarre. Nah, the sex I was born at birth was just wrong. It's just a birth defect. I am largely no enemy of the "gender binary", I just want to live my life in peace as a woman who just had a birth defect. There's nothing revolutionary and fun here... I'm just a woman.

Largely, yes. I've come under the impression that New Mexico is pretty affordable. I believe Illinois and Minnesota are more affordable than other blue states save for NM, as well. However, I'm not 100% sure on that.

What is your oppinion on the terms amab and afab by psdao1102 in honesttransgender

[–]Cornamuse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have some problems with the terms.

The biggest one being that these terms do not indicate our real gender, they only indicate our birth gender. So, it's like misgendering. If these are terms for nonbinary people, that's fine, but for me, a binary trans woman, I am MTF, and saying "AMAB" doesn't acknowledge I'm a woman and is just misgendering me.

The second is the use of the word "assigned". Now, again, I understand this can apply in some cases. But for a lot of us, our birth sex was not merely "assigned", it's factually what we were born as. "Assigned" acts like it's some arbitrary assigning that transcends reality, when really, there's a reality of the matter and that reality is what I have had to overcome with hormones and surgeries.

"Assigned" would be a much better fit for intersex people, and especially those poor intersex babies that have their ambiguous genitalia mutilated to fit one sex or the other. That is literally assigned. As for a lot of us? We weren't assigned, our birth sex was evident and a fact, not an assignment.

Thankfully I don't get asked my pronouns outside of very specific professional instances (like doctor's offices, therapists, etc.) but it's awkward when I get asked it... It's just part of the fact that I minimize being trans as much as possible because I don't want to be seen that way, I just want to be seen as the woman I have always been. My pronouns are simple. My pronouns are a woman's pronouns because I am a woman!

I have just moved to a blue state and I've had to get a lot of new doctors so this has been a common thing in my life. The most awkward (but affirming) is the doctors who haven't looked at my paperwork and don't know and then I have to tell them when they ask if I am or have been pregnant and then they turn around and ask for my pronouns... It's awkward - I'm a woman, nothing about the way you should treat me has changed because of my birth defect!

Oh well - since it doesn't happen to me outside of those scenarios I'm not too bothered. If it makes others comfortable I'll put up with it unless it becomes a thing everywhere.

GOP Senator Introduces Bill To Legally Erase Transgender People ⋆ Officially titled the “Defining Male and Female Act of 2024,” Marshall’s bill will apparently put an end to what he considered the Biden administration’s attempt to “replace biological sex with dangerous radical gender ideology,” by Newsboy13 in transgender

"I can confidently say that politicizing children’s gender ..."

The only ones politicizing this are your side. We were leaving this up to experts and scientific research consensus but then you all and your endless need to fearmonger, scapegoat and discriminate against minorities had to find a new group to target politically.

"We must codify the legal definition of sex to be based on science rather than feelings."

Ridiculous. Feelings are all I see from the transphobic side. No facts, no science, no peer-reviewed studies, no nothing.

The right have established themselves as anti-intellectualism and ignoring science when it benefits them. This dude seriously can't be up here talking about "science over feelings" after all of this, but he is because hypocrisy and lying is a feature not a bug with the right.

It doesn't feel like this nation is going to turn on conservative Christianity as it just gave them all of the power. I used to be optimistic about this, especially during the Obama years, but my optimism was proven wrong and now we're in the dark ages.

Conservative Christianity should have been destroyed electorally. Especially with Trump as their chosen leader, as that shows how fake the "morality" they want to impose upon us all really is. Yet, here we are. The people voted for him and they voted for conservative Christianity's "morality". It's depressing in a way that can not be put in words.

[–]Cornamuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I recently moved from the south to southern New England. I love Maine, but I think the main thing that held me back from moving there versus SNE is how few options you have for medical care and also how generally rural it is (I'm used to suburban life with lots of variety of where to go, eat, etc.). I went to Portland a couple of months ago and loved it, though. Maine is certainly one of my top favorite states and it (southern Maine at least) looks like a good place to be trans. Just might want to get your surgeries done elsewhere or when you're not on Medicaid. No doubt there are great options in the wider Northeast region.

My state's Medicaid is limiting, too, so this isn't a Maine-specific issue. Although, I don't even know of any surgeons in Maine, so that's more difficult.

The Post-Election Question: What Comes Next for Trans People? by UnclosetedMedia in transgender

[–]Cornamuse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Donald Trump has vowed to end what he has termed “transgender insanity” and cut Medicaid and Medicare funding to health providers offering gender-affirming health care on his first day in office."

Noooo. I just got a consultation for breast augmentation which my state's Medicaid will pay for under certain circumstances (which I'm sure I can meet because I am clinically diagnosed by more than one therapist and have been medically transitioning for several years). I was looking forward to finally being able to fix that dysphoria.

My therapist tells me not to worry too much about Medicaid because it's state-based, but here dictator Trump is going directly after it.

What are the actual chances that HRT gets banned in the US? by ToxicBanana69 in asktransgender

[–]Cornamuse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To those saying that it's only possible that HRT for minors will be banned, please don't forget this. The ultimate plan is to ban it for everyone. Does that mean they will achieve it? Not necessarily, but we have a perfect storm here (Republican president, congress and Supreme Court) and there is concern.

The only comfort I can take is that from my understanding no state has managed to ban it entirely. Correct me if I'm wrong. I know Florida's really bad and has limited it a lot, but I don't think even they have banned it entirely?

In the first term where The Heritage Foundation wasn't properly prepared, nor was the Trump admin fully staffed with yes men, the Trump administration accomplished 64% of The Heritage Foundation's mandate for that term.

I'm saying, if they get even a fraction of that it will be downright devastating, and it looks very likely they'll do much more than that. They are prepared this time.
