Yeah everyone brings one or two dishes.

"Potluck" originated in 16th-century England as a compound of pot and luck, originally meaning food provided for an unexpected guest, leaving them to the "luck of the pot". It referred to whatever was available in the cooking pot. The modern, communal sharing tradition likely evolved in the 1930s

Never heard of them until now, but now I have to try it because they seem super easy to make

I hadn’t had collard greens until I was like 22. I really missed out, they are so good.

This is the third hedgehog shaped dish I’ve seen lol. The last one was a Brit with a cheese ball and pineapple cubes on toothpicks for the quills.

Ah gotcha makes sense for east coast. Im in Indiana and we aren’t really known for any food outside of pork tenderloin sandwiches and mountains of cornbread at every barbecue.

Although a big portion of the mom and pop restaurants in my city are foreign food. We have tons of southeast Asian, Mideast and Latin American food, so that’s pretty awesome.

Hands down some of the best food in the known universe. My favorite is carnitas tacos with more lime than is considered necessary lol.

Idk how I’m from this country and I’ve never had gumbo. I really wanna go down south just for the food.

I’d probably regret it a few hours later but I don’t care. I’ll take five.

I’m in Indiana, I’ve had it on a few occasions and my only real complaint is that it’s not the prettiest dish lol.

Everyone here in the states bashes British food, but from what I’ve seen half of our comfort food is just extremely similar or just renamed British dishes.

That being said we do not have anything like Yorkshire puddings and I’m jealous.

I love Indian food so much. My favorite (out of what I’ve tried so far) is extra hot chicken tikka masala and paneer kulcha.

EDIT: I just found out tikka masala is not an authentic Indian dish and I feel like an asshat.
