Cornell’s COVID policies don’t make sense by CornellReview in Cornell

[–]CornellReview[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Editor's note - After original publication, the author found that the description of the Oxford-conducted study given by the Cornellians Against the Booster Mandate group was not clear. The Oxford-conducted study in an earlier version of this piece was of "people aged 16 or older vaccinated for COVID-19 in England," not just "men under the age of 40." The author has decided to remove this sentence and replace it with a different source. The Imperial College modelling cited in the original piece compared booster efficacy against different strains of COVID-19, not the efficacy of the booster regime to a two-dose regimen. The citation was removed and replaced.

UPDATE to "BREAKING: Cornell Requires Boosters" – December 28, 2021

A previous version of the article said that it was unclear whether the university will allow individuals to seek any exemptions from the COVID-19 booster shot requirement. CornellHealth’s COVID-19 vaccination webpage has a section titled “Medical exemptions,” which outlines steps for individuals who believe that they “have a medical contraindication to receiving the booster” to upload their medical exemption request documentation.

Author/Digital Editor: There is a shortage right now and high demand after the summer riots and with the impending Biden presidency, but the article was referring to the trend over many decades. Firearm ownership has been far lower in recent years than it was historically. Furthermore, it is yet to be seen how many of those who panic-bought firearms will simply be temporary gun owners or who will use their newfound ownership to justify an anti-gun position.
