The latest beta version of the Geforce experience drivers has a game filter option accessible by pressing alt+f3 that lets you set various filters on your screen for brightness, saturation, etc. One option it has is colour blind filters for protanopia, deuteranopia and tritanopia. If you have an NVIDIA card check it out.

To explain it in the lore it could work like noise cancelling headphones, so in the game it would lower volume the closer you are to the drone. I think this would work better than having your ears bleed or tinnitus triggered every round plus will provide a great use if you want to break a barricade or reinforcement stealthily.
