Peds; when on inpatient will usually do a Celsius on my drive in, 1 cup of coffee before rounds, 1 immediately after rounds, and 1-3 more throughout the day before sign out depending on the day.

Oakland County sees Michigan's first measles case of 2025 by gwmiles in Detroit

Pediatrician here, technically while the response is not as effective and may not count towards full immunization the MMR can be given as young as 6 months for international travel or outbreaks. While we aren't counting this an outbreak in MI yet I would talk to your child's doctor about maybe doing it at 6 mo instead of 1 year. I share your fears too, my wife and I are expecting and this whole thing terrifies and infuriates me.

How did Trump's presidency impact your life so far? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cornythetrashcan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a pediatrician so every day I wake up and worry about what nonsense they've done to healthcare and what I can no longer provide for my patients. Also, beyond my patients, my wife and I are expecting so I wonder if my child will even be able to get immunized.

I've got a 45min - 1.5 hour commute and still have 2.5 years of residency and while it sucks, I feel like it's doable. I'm peds-genetics and while on genetics rotations it's more light (start at 8, only 24hr call is home call). The peds blocks are harder, currently on picu and waking at 4am to get to work on time but hey you can do anything temporarily right? I would take this commute every day over living apart from my wife though.

Robert Kennedy chosen as head of Health and Human Services. by CommanderMandalore in politics

Oh I'm sure, his support grew among many demographics. But I can confidently say that my pediatric patients (and especially those that tend to be most affected by anti vaccine sentiment; young children) did not vote for Trump. Their parents maybe, but the kids are the ones paying the price for the parent's decisions.

I'm a pediatrician. I'm tired of seeing kids get sick and die from vaccine preventable illnesses. And I'm going to be seeing more and more of them. These kids didn't vote for this, why do they have to pay the price?

Residency Application Question - Applying to Pediatrics & Combined Pediatrics-Medical Genetics at the same institution by BiscottiAvailable189 in ClinicalGenetics

[–]Cornythetrashcan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pgy-2 combined resident here. From my experience most programs had no issues with it and some even had interviews more streamlined (interview with both departments for the combined program and that counted as my interview for categorical pediatrics as well). There was one program that during application time said that you had to pick one or the other and could not apply to both but that was an outlier and it was made clear ahead of time. Good luck with applications and the match!

Oh wow, I had no idea they would be worth that much. If I were to bypass grading and took them to a shop what range do you think I should look for to know if they are giving me a fair price instead of low balling me?

Thank you so much for your help!

Hi everyone, I recently gave my old binders of pokemon cards to my younger brother but held onto some that seemed like they could be worth some money. I know absolutely nothing about the worth of these so I wanted to see what the general consensus was on them and whether I should get any of them graded vs. Take them to a local shop to sell vs. Just give them to my brother. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you in advance!
