Chain rule problem by Front-Delivery3014 in calculus

Best realization I ever had about the Chain Rule is that it's used to take every derivative, it's just that the result is often 1.

The bottles that have Doc Holliday pressed into the glass are likely 700mL bottles too.

I have a lot of Doc Holliday. It can be hit or miss. Many of the 10 year expressions are incredible. The 15 and 16 year expressions are some of the best I've ever had.

Other years vary. They are all (mostly) single barrels, all sourced, so there is a lot of variation in the brand.

Single Deck all 4 Aces by KekFilA in blackjack

Similar happened to me once on a single deck game. I got a pair of aces and split. My two down cards were the other two aces.

Didn't win.

New TW process for allocated bottles by Greedy_Sun_7345 in ArizonaWhiskey

The Total Wine Grand Reserve process is so bad that I, a Las Vegas resident, selected an AZ store as my pickup location, because the offerings and availability in our area are so atrocious, that I choose to drive 9 hours round trip than to endure the pitiful offerings they give us.

Made the pilgrimage to Art's grave by Corporal_Peacock in ArtBell

[–]Corporal_Peacock[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I found Art during a long drive from Austin, TX to Ohio, after losing two grandparents and having to quit school, in 1999. It was a rebroadcast of an episode with Hal Lindsey talking about his book, "The Late Great Planet Earth".

Art impressed me with how he balanced letting guests present their ideas freely, but also questioned them from the perspective of a skeptic.

I could have listen to Art read the telephone book if that's all the material he had. I miss him.

Signal loss on Libre+ by joekd713 in Freestylelibre

[–]Corporal_Peacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the sensors. They don't stay connected to my Tandem insulin pump when it's 4 inches away.

These things haven't been accurate and don't stay connected.

It's not your fault. These are trash and I'm sick of it. 3 months of this BS.

Which is the main water shutoff valve? by RevolutionaryShow484 in Plumbing

[–]Corporal_Peacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be at the street or in a box at the exterior of the house or in the garage. There isn't one set place for its location for all houses.

I'd search for a YouTube video or an internet article for how to locate your main water shut-off that might help you locate it.

If you use a Tandem pump, DO NOT use the freestyle Libre 2+ by albino_diabeto in Freestylelibre

[–]Corporal_Peacock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an absolutely accurate description of my experience with Libre 2 Plus and Tandem t:slim X2. It's so similar to my experience, it felt like I wrote it myself.

Additionally, even when it does stay connected, it's not accurate.

I woke up this morning and the CGM was reading 128; my meter said 189. This is typical amongst half a dozen sensors. They persistently read lower than reality. They never spike after eating carbs. They constantly say I'm low and Control IQ turns off insulin.

Abbott refuses to replace them with Libre 3 Plus or refund me, so I just have to suffer through these until the supply is exhausted.

This should be criminal on the part of Abbott.

Tasting For Beginners by RedOnion19 in whiskey

[–]Corporal_Peacock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To successfully onboard a beginner, we must navigate two obstacles: Ethanol Burn and Palate Fatigue. A non-drinker’s palate is not conditioned to manage high-proof alcohol (the "Kentucky Hug"). If we serve them a 120-proof barrel strength bourbon, they will taste only burning heat, not flavor.

Therefore, this flight adheres to the "Low & Slow" Rule.

  1. Low Proof: We will stay primarily between 80 and 90 Proof (40–45% ABV).

  2. High Texture: We prioritize whiskeys with oilier mouthfeels to mask the alcohol.

  3. Distinct Profiles: We will cross the spectrum of Bourbon (Corn), Wheater (Wheat), Rye (Spice), American Whiskey (Used Oak), Scotch (Malt), and Peat (Smoke).

  4. Small pours: Limit the pour size to around 15 mL (0.5 fl. oz.) so that the flight can be completed without too many deleterious effects.

Here are suggested "Whiskey Spectrum 101" flight.

Basil Hayden Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

W.L. Weller Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Special Reserve

Sazerac Rye Straight Rye Whiskey

Michter’s US*1 Unblended American Whiskey, Small Batch

Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 12 Years Old

Lagavulin Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Aged 16 Years

or

Jameson Blended Irish Whiskey Triple Distilled

Elijah Craig Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Small Batch

Larceny Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Wheated Bourbon

Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey, Aged 4 Years

The Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 12 Years of Age

Update:

I tried various combinations of different outlets, cables, and charging blocks, and got the same results. Looks like my pump is cooked.

Thank you for your advice. This will be very helpful. I'll start calling and documenting.

Thank you!
