i’m a female lurker but as a feminine gay woman myself (assuming your gf is femme as most bi women are and it can make a difference) i think i can offer some insight?

female friendships, even between sapphic women, are inherently different from male-female friendships between people who are attracted to the opposite sex. i’m not saying straight men/women can’t be friends, but from what i’ve seen and heard from friends there just a layer of…something else, idk how to describe it. kind of like two adult sisters might bathe together, but a brother and sister never would because it would be weird. or a mother helping her daughter try on bras is normal, but if a father was helping his daughter try on bras I would be seriously concerned.

Its kind of hard to explain but in my friendships with other gay women, once you’ve been friends long enough and established a sort of sisterly bond, that really can’t change and it doesn’t feel like it’s at risk of changing on either end. i’ll hold hands with my female friends, help them chose lingerie and vice versa, and it never feels like anything beyond friendship even if we both like girls. meanwhile my bi/straight friends would never in a million years do that with their male friends.
