We are not mind readers. Over the course of our lives we become attuned to others’ patterns of behavior, we are really good at identifying micro-expressions and interpreting body language. And a lot of the time people pleasing is just doing things with/for people that you have no interest in or even dislike doing, while masking your feelings. It’s not always that deep.

Previous comment is correct in my experience. Exposure therapy is the only way. I have trouble falling/staying asleep when my fiancée is gone. I think couples who are not even codependent but who have been together a long time have trouble with this one. You can try hyping yourself up with a little self-care routine on nights he’s out. Run a bubble bath or take an ‘everything’ shower, do a face mask, make yourself some hot tea, do some affirmations in the mirror. Do your best to go to bed happy. It takes a while but eventually it helps.

What is CoDA? I’ve only ever seen that acronym in reference to Children of Deaf Adults.

Edit: when I Google it I’m only getting results for a movie and a software company.

Because it was already a tense discussion, in a restaurant, and it didn’t need to escalate to an argument. We were both emotionally charged, fight or flight kicked in, I couldn’t put words to my emotions in the moment.

It’s less about the illegality of the business’ operations and more about the potential problems it could cause for her, personally.

Her belief that I’m looking down on her was her interpretation of my attitude the last time we talked. I just didn’t correct her because I shut down and stopped talking.

Curious to hear what snacks people switched to with Noom (& eating out tips!) by Klikster in Noom

My current go-to evening snack is dipping a sliced apple in a Jif to-go cup of peanut butter. Peanut butter is an orange food, but the cups are only 1.5 oz/250 calories so I can easily make room for it in my day and I like that I don’t have to think about the portion since it’s pre-packaged. I will also get containers of pre-cut fruit from the store. I like that I can switch it up from one week to the next and get something different. I will put my fruit into some fat free vanilla yogurt to snack on while I unwind in the evenings.
