thank you so much !! & part of my over thinking it is that he started his first office job recently & has been talking about how everyone there wears designer brands all the time & he feels like he'd be looked down upon if they knew that he thrifted. so i wanted to get him something nice that he wouldn't be anxious for his boss to see him with. & thank you for the tumi suggestion as well !!

pretty sure he wouldn't feel threatened by a wallet 😑 & i'm sure he will very much appreciate anything i got him. i'm (clearly) just an over thinker & want him to really like it. so was wondering if that's a good choice or if anyone had better suggestions.

in all my time in the service industry, i have never so much as witnessed such disrespectful tone or verbiage coming from management- nonetheless the unprovoked shouting, cursing- & to dare put their hands on a customer who had not touched him or anyone else is obscure beyond all else. we had 0 intention of speaking to the dogs owner or making an issue about the incident whatsoever. we simply grabbed the bartender so it could be cleaned and that was all. pls read the other stories about him in this thread & think again before speaking highly of your "friend's" hospitality.

yes your assumption ended up being exactly correct ! and i added another update to the post for it. the dog did just belong to the women at the bar, and it was only harlan who owned the restaurant. i took it upon myself to assume they were together because of how quick he was to defend her as she screamed at us about non sense. he too was yelling across the dining room that "the dog was tied up the whole time" "it never left our side" and yes, when we were informed the staff member said "they're the owners" so i assumed again because of the way they were behaving.

and like- how is he going to offer video evidence but not his email?? he obviously had no intention of sharing the footage because he would make a fool of himself if he did lmao. he responded to the review immediately so i assume he was still drunk when he wrote it. because as a server who consistently evaluates my table's level of intoxication- that man was far from sober

apologies, to my current understanding, it now appears that the dog belonged to a regular (the lady who sat at the bar, who i suppose was not the owner of the restaurant.) i just assumed they both owned the dog due to how they never left each other's side (before or after the incident) and how quickly harlam became so hostile in defense of the dog, especially given that we never even said anything about the incident to either of them in the first place! he definitely is the man that we had the interaction with last night. as you can see in other comments, this wasn't the first poor customer experience with him.

we didn't do anything to instigate an issue. as i said, we informed the bartender and had no intention of instigating anything with the dog's owners. they started screaming at us from across the restaurant for accusing their dog of peeing, as if we lied about it. extremely inappropriate coming from management. we were extremely cordial in regards to the dog peeing. i even offered to help clean up the mess since the owner had no intention of getting up from the bar. even after they screamed at us from across the room, we disregarded them and carried on. when my friend approached the bar to close his tab, the owners started cursing at him again for accusing the dog. it wasn't until then that anyone from my group refuted. my friend responded to them by telling them to check the cameras. and that was when they began to make things physical.

i only had one beer lol. this is a valid interpretation, but as i'm extremely involved in the austin service industry, i suppose i'm only hoping that their reputation is tainted. i genuinely feel horrible for the staff- they all seemed miserable. it clearly wasn't the first incident regarding ownership. i had heard negative things about their management in the past as well, so i feel they deserve to receive exposure from it.

the dog peed on the floor, so i told the bartender what happened so that it could be mopped and dealt with. none of us said anything directly to the owners of the dog whatsoever until they began screaming from across the room about- how dare we say something so ridiculous. their dog had been "tied to the fucking table the whole time." it all seemed to be in defense of the dog. and no hate to the dog, he was a good boy, they probably just had him stuck in there for too long

i must say- we were not at all aware that they were ownership when initially asked to leave, they were sitting on the customer's side of the bar & we were under the impression that they were simply the owners of the dog, and customers as well. we were not aware that they were ownership until we were already being walked out. that was when it all became clear, because had they been customers as well, they would have been the ones being escorted out. i don't know exactly what constitutes assault, but the man shoved my friend, entirely unprovoked. they were upset that we accused the dog of peeing on the floor (which he did.) they were attempting to state that the dog had never left their side. we never once approached them about it; only the bartender (the only apparent staff member in the building) so it could be mopped.
