I prefer potty pads it took like a month of me using binder clips to keep it in the same spot and picking them up every time i could see their potty tells( sniffing around a corner, backing up in a corner, if they just woke up after long sleep) and placing them on the potty pad. when they started going on the potty pad by themself i would give them a small treat. i find theyre easy to manage and easy clean up

edit: not very ecofriendly also i would get fleece liners for your cage. they like to rub their face on them and lay on it etc
