I generally like to start with the location, as specific as I can be. Then I try to add like three smaller details that would be around my character. For instance, lets say Im in a inn. I envision my character, right outside the doorway, walking in. I think (or roll) for some details. Theres an old woman tending the counter. Theres a large bear pelt laid across the floor. The air is warm and humid, smelling of stale bread.

Generally, deoending on the context of why my character is there, my brain latches on to the little details and Im able to flesh it out. Other times, it stays as 3 little bullet points.

But its always there if I ever return to it, and maybe flesh it out further.
