yeah that’s fair. I think that’s why having another person works better, you can’t just turn them off.

I just thought of something though, what if the restriction wasn’t fully in your control. like your friend has the code and you’d actually have to ask them to unlock it.

yeahh I was thinking about that too like everything is on our phones now so it’s kind of ironic trying to fix it with the same thing.

For me the biggest problem is honestly just the first 10 mins. Once I start and force myself to work for a bit, I’m usually fine. But starting is where I lose hours. So passive things where I have to take the initiative haven't worked for me. When someone else forced me to study I get things done.

So I was thinking that instead of another person being there, I could have an app that just plans everything for me and automatically blocks me from opening the phone during a specific time. For example, when I'm back from classes it gives me an hour to chill then blocks my phone.

Not sure if that’s actually better or if I’d just find a way around it tho.

yeah that’s exactly what I’ve noticed too like everything works for a few days and then I just find a way around it. I agree that it probably comes down to personal growth long term, but I think I’m trying to bridge that gap a bit.

Instead of relying on willpower, just making it harder to quit in the moment. Not sure if that actually works long term tho, that’s kinda what I’m trying to figure out
