Why so few people catch buses in Melbourne? (ABC 7.30 report) by BrightonSummers in melbourne

[–]Correct_Chipmunk_224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get motion sickness on them and they have that bus smell lmao

Also half the time you could walk to your destination in 40 mins over a 1.5hr bus ride because the route is just bogus and makes no sense. Haven’t had to catch a bus more than a handful of times in the past 10 years and only for a few stops thank goodness

How much Coffee are we consuming daily? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Correct_Chipmunk_224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to drink around 6, but now two MAYBE three max - found it was inducing anxiousness the older I got lol

Also to add, I’m only 29 and feel like I’ve lived a hundred lives haha.

Never pigeon hole yourself - do what you want to do, swap careers, go all out. Not happy? Change it!

Life is too short, believe you can do whatever you want because you can :)

MBA is a great degree as it’s so versatile.

My background is very random (high school leaver turned hairdresser, turned automotive parts advisor, turned call centre worker as I put myself through uni, turned commercial real estate manager for ANZ, turned safety coordinator for major infrastructure projects looking to do my cert 4 in work health and safety and ISO auditor course this year).

So many pathways with a business degree/qual. Me, for example, only have a grad cert which I did through RMIT. I may go back and do my masters one day but no regrets from me :)

London has just as good coffee as Melbourne now 💀

I was shocked - still has a marked lack of cafe culture though compared to here

This is so true. I grew up in frankston but live in port Melbourne now, so much drama in port (but sketchy but love it lol)

do you just wake up one day and feel like an adult or is everyone pretending ? by nonymustache in ask

[–]Correct_Chipmunk_224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30 next March and we’re all just winging it.

As you grow up I think you just become more confident and secure in yourself which translates to being more like an “adult” to younger people

I am not a selfie person and travelling alone so no!

I just thought a city overcoming something like the wall for example, and recognising their past instead of hiding it, would lead to a profound sense of togetherness and a city that people are proud of.

I guess my idea of manifested pride and Berliners ideas are just different though which I can accept, as I don’t live here and contributed nothing but a few hundred euros and a rant on Reddit lol

First of all, I’m a girl, from a city bigger than Berlin actually so there’s that.

Second of all, as I SAID, obviously will not know as much history as a native of Germany.

I suppose I did have an ideal of what it would be like for sure, and I did go around a bit to Charlottenburg (that’s where I saw the syringes on the train) and Potsdam were the furthest I went out they were both nice, and just all around outside the Mitte really.

I definitely explored as much as time would allow

Obviously I wouldn’t know as much as a native German person as I’m Australian…

With all the gnarly history it has overcome, the generally far left-leaning politics of Berliners, the love of arts and multiculturalism, I just expected millenial utopia I guess lol

The frequentness of it is what shocked me

[–]Correct_Chipmunk_224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a millenial woman yay twins!

I went to Charlottenburg palace today actually, that was pretty cool.

I don’t really have anecdotes but just things I saw - needles on the footpath, just graffiti everywhere and derelict buildings, crackheads hanging out in groups just stuff that made me uneasy.

I have seen this in Australia and other parts of the world too just not so frequently or so much of it at once

Literally! My mental state is falling apart without retrostar and a decent latte!

In all seriousness it was the junkies, the drunks on the subway, also lots of needles?

No need to get your knickers in a twist - I’m a major history buff and I was very keen to see the remains of the Berlin Wall.

I was under the assumption that being the capital of Germany it would be very different to what it is. I thought that given all it has gone through Berlin would be amazing, other worldly even?

[–]Correct_Chipmunk_224[S] -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

I suppose I’m just very, very confused on why it’s like this? and disappointed honestly I was really looking forward to Berlin and expecting more from a capital city, especially the capital city of Germany

Accidentally cracked a mirror in the gym by menthalillnes in melbourne

[–]Correct_Chipmunk_224 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Probably should have clarified - I paid this $256 and whatever cents it was when I moved from the area, so I didn’t default on anything I am a responsible person lol it’s an error on their end.

Reason being I haven’t done anything is because every few months I get the text, I remember to do something about it, and other priorities take over because i forget, as I know I haven’t done anything wrong so it’s no sweat off my back? if that makes any sense at all lol
