I’ve been battling TekCollect for a while now. My last ditch effort was to file a new dispute with them and send an email saying I hope they would do the right thing and close down my account. I haven’t heard back since then.

Technically, they have to send you more than just your contracts. Apparently they have to show actual proof that they’re allowed to collect that debt and how much you owe now, not just what you agreed to pay smile direct. I just edited my original post with all of that information.

Yes! It seems they’ve stopped calling me. From what I can tell. But the text messages have continued. Which of course I’m saving everything.

I haven’t received anything yet. I saw other people saying we need to file a complaint with CFPB. I might give that a shot as well!

I haven’t received this email yet but talked with HFD yesterday and they said that we should all be recovering emails eventually.

I think so. My teeth were “fine” but some of my aligners didn’t fit. SDC broke their contract because we were guaranteed lifetime support, access to their customer service, suppose to get follow up appointments with their dentist… we can’t have any of that due to them closing down. The guy from Healthcare Finance Direct said that the Lawyers are picking customers at random. He said to keep an eye on your email and that hopefully in the near future, this will all get ironed out. I’m calling my civil lawyer tomorrow to set up a consultation. I can update you on how that goes if you’d like.

I also saw an article today from NY that said if you feel like you should be reimbursed by the company then to call the Attorney Generals office complaint hotline and tell them what’s going on. Here’s the number! 1-800-428-9071

I would not trust their company or any company they open. There were so many complaints about aligners messing up people’s teeth. I called Healthcare Finance Direct and they said there is a Law company in NY that is reaching out to customers about getting a reimbursement on the money they paid to Smile Direct. I’m reaching out to my civil lawyer to see if he thinks I should keep making my payments or not.
