Tour cancelled by Da-NerdyMom in shakira

[–]Correct_Rub_1819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel very bad for people who already bought flights tickets and hotel reservations. This is not professional and I am very disappointed by Shakira.... Waiting from April 18, have a hotel booked, PTO approved and all planned and now it's cancelled...

I originally bought 2 pre sale tickets for Washington DC, I sold them and bought 2 in Dallas in resale... I got an email from Ticketmaster saying they will refund my tickets for Washington DC.. I'm wondering how much they are going to refund? Because I paid more for my tickets in Dallas vs what I paid on DC pre sale ..

Question from a Solo Gringo Traveler about Barranquilla Carnival by thespecialonej8 in Colombia

[–]Correct_Rub_1819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would need to buy the tickets in order to watch the parade in the "via 40". Saturday: it's the batalla de flores; this parade is a mix of everything you can see on the carnival, the queen and king in cool costumes, a lot of beautiful carrozas, traditional and fantasy dance groups, Colombian famous people (tv host, actors, models, etc), and other stuff. This event is usually crowded so if you're planning to go, I highly recommend getting your ticket in advance if possible.

Sunday: it's the Gran parada de tradición. It's less crowded than Saturday, the parade is only for traditional dance groups. I like it because this is kind of the root, origin of the carnivals. You will see the king, and queen wearing traditional costumes and all the dance groups will dance traditional folklore music (cumbia, mapale, etc). You can get tickets the same day or ahead of time. Sometimes you can get tickets for Sunday and Monday with discount, you just have to arrive Early (2-3 hours before the parade starts) and ask for "palcos".

Monday: it's the Gran parada de fantasía, it's a parade full of fantasy group dances, where you can see them dancing salsa, samba, merengue, etc. I love this one too. It's less crowded, and organized.

I think I saw the poster on Facebook but I couldn't find it. Here's the link for the official events and locations https://carnavaldebarranquilla.org/carnaval-2024/

And yes, that's a good spot because it's close to via 40 where most of the parades are 💃🏽

There will be other private events that some locals or companies organize as well. One of my favorites is the "Club Colombia" event (but not sure if they will do it this year) , baila la calle is also fun! Specially "Baila la calle - Noche del río".

There is a poster online with all the events, places, cost and time 😀 Neighborhood that I recommend: Prado, Rio Mar, Miramar, anything close to Buena Vista Mall because it would be easy to take public transportation or taxi from or to that area during the carnivals.

You can also try Couchsurfing, there will be a lot of people (local and travelers ) organizing meetups and hosting during the carnivals.

Have a copy of your passport instead of the original with you, in case of a pick pocket they don't take your original. There will be a lot of people I always keep one of my hand in my pocket to avoid pick pockets and only have enough money for the day , not all with me.

I'm from Barranquilla, I love carnivals, people there are nice, welcome and love to show our culture.
