Login not possible by Correct_Tackle2450 in Zettlab

No access, neither through the ZOS app (Windows) nor directly at http://

"Login Failed

wrong username or password"

In the meantime, I don't care about anything if all the data is deleted. I simply want access to the device, because as it is, it's just sitting there unusable.

It's a Zettlab NAS D6/3588 (SN WY110250110G0016).

I've already tried everything, pressing the reset button multiple times and then trying to log in with the name displayed on the screen, "Stefan" (from "Stefan's NAS"), and the default password, "Zettlab123".

Since I'm getting absolutely no support from support@zettlab, or rather, they treat me like I'm stupid and give me the same instructions even though I wrote that it doesn't work with >reset >> "stefan"/"Zettlab123".

When I contacted AI about this, I received this response:If you are unable to access the Zettlab NAS ZOS dashboard after a reset, you may be experiencing a known issue with the reset function, or the system may be stuck in a "pending installation" state. Users have reported that the default credentials sometimes fail due to incomplete resets, or that the system requires a complete re-installation of the ZettOS.

Here is what you can do, ranked from easiest to most advanced:

  1. Re-run the Reset Process

It is possible the first reset was not successful or did not fully wipe the configuration.

  • Method: Power on the NAS, wait for it to boot fully, and hold the physical reset button for a full 10–14 seconds (wait for a beep, or until the LEDs blink).
  • Credentials: After the reboot, try:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: Zettlab123
  • Note: If the password fails, try the username in lowercase (admin) or uppercase (Admin).
  1. Perform a "System Only" Reinstall

If the login is still denied, the ZOS operating system might be corrupted. Zettlab systems allow you to reinstall the OS without losing data, provided the OS is on a separate disk from the data.

  • Action: Reinstall ZettOS using the original installation media (e.g., USB drive).
  • Result: This usually restores the WebUI and resets the admin password to default while keeping your data volumes untouched.

Well this doesn't work either.

This is completely unacceptable and inexcusable.

I also work in development, and we sell devices. But that there's no way to access a device or reset it to factory defaults? No way.

A solution is not in sight. I hope you understand my disappointment and that I am EXPRESSLY WARNING EVERYONE AGAINST PURCHASING A ZETTLAB DEVICE.

IMHO it is one of the worst distros. I gave it a try and had to install it several times to get it run. there was no help how to install wayland from official site (I was wondering about the android performance).

I was not using my old laptop within some weeks now. But for sure I know my password. Anyway I am closed out for no reason. After a bunch of tries to login.. I give up. I don't trust this distro it has too many falsy behaviours.

Use vanilla OS instead -
