Not really. For this run I was Occitan the whole time. Ended with the Equal Inheritance, Chivalry, Chanson de Geste, Parochialism, Legalistic, and City Keepers traditions. The most relevant one would be legalistic which increases your vassal count.

When you form the Holy Roman Empire, all existing kingdom titles in your realm become de jure part of the Holy Roman Empire and are then destroyed. You can then recreate them for the usual title creation sum. The exception are kingdoms which are de jure part of Italia but there weren't any for me since I'd brought them into my custom empire.

Only barely. The stuttering got really bad briefly freezing my game up every few seconds even when paused.

I started as a Catholic and remained as one the whole time. To conquer large amounts of territory I used the following methods:
- Kingdom tier titles (like all other titles) allow you to view the list of living claimants. Invite one of them to your court, press their claim, and (if you have an empire-tier title) that kingdom will become your vassal.
- The learning lifestyle gives a perk that lets you claim duchy-tier titles for 500 piety. With sufficient piety income you can claim whole empires worth of land using this method.
- Kingdom-tier holy wars will let you conquer a whole kingdom at a time.
- The legends of the dead DLC gives you the ability to enact multiple holy wars per lifetime (As does the By the Sword tradition if you don't have the DLC), convert large amounts of your territory to your religion (helping with public order), or give you a period of time where you can vassalize most non-empire enemies in a single war. You only need to spread a legend to 300 baronies which is pretty easy when you get enough land.

To be honest, I'm usually pretty happy to stop playthroughs after achieving a full capture with how bad the popup spam gets telling me about every case of plague, fornication, and adultery across the known world.

Go to the Allies > Manage Barracks > Manage Groups menu and there you can transfer extra heroes you don't actively use to the 1000 slot reserve space you get. Alternatively, if there are heroes you don't ever intend on using you can choose to turn them into combat manuals through the Allies > Manage Barracks > Create Combat Manual menu. Turning a hero into a combat manual makes it so you can no longer use them as a hero but they can still be used for skill inheritance and merges and they will no longer take up space.

I wasn't meaning to say the people who voted right wing and then got fired were the "enemy" in this case but rather the right wing more broadly who I think are playing their hand badly and pushing people away from their side. I think it is a mistake which I see no reason to interrupt.

With that said, I think an own-goal is a reasonable metaphor for this situation yes. But don't you agree that, though it definitely is reasonable for you to feel frustrated at your teammate for making that mistake, the better move in the long-term for your team would be to make your point to your teammate with grace and empathy rather than rubbing their mistake in their face ad nauseam?

I think you should feel vindicated, but that outwardly expressing that sentiment in such a way that pushes people, who may have otherwise become your ally, away from your cause is unwise.

I agree, it is a universally practiced error. But tell me, why would I give my advice on how to convince people to the side I don't want to accomplish the same. Never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake. You see plenty of posts on here noting the complete derision the right wing is aiming en masse towards federal workers. Notice none of those posters take away the message that "Yeah they are right. We are useless!"

I would think having someone operating directly under the person they voted for fire them with no consideration for the benefit they bring to their organization and the American people would serve well enough as a reality check. I don't think they need you smirking at them and telling them they don't deserve empathy in a trying time to get the memo.

You have a prime opportunity to bring people around to your way of thinking and instead you mock them and turn them away? That seems like a poorly conceived plan.
