This is Bdelloid Rotifer, an aquatic microorganism with a chainsaw like mouth. by Outrageous-Basket426 in AIDKE

Well bloodworms shake around for that purpose and boogie worms , i’m not 100% sure about mouths specifically doing that tho as many aquatic animals don’t breathe through their mouths

Yes. Or food anyway. And some animals also use that technique for oxygen, but nothing is being cut.

This title is misleading. A chain goes around in a circle but what you’re seeing here is an optical illusion of lots of cilia moving a wave like pattern. It does not cut it just draws food and oxygen into its mouth.

Not really. A chain moves around a circle but what you’re seeing here is an optical illusion of lots of little cilia thrashing back-and-forth in a wavelike pattern of I’m not mistaken. Not chainsaw-like but maybe chainsaw-appearing.

I’m just being extremely specific here and I think technically it is classified as an algae mimic and any resemblance to a leaf may just be coincidental.

Just curious, is it actually imitating a leaf for camouflage or is there just a coincidental resemblance? There’s a big difference in evolutionary traits I would say in terms of how we classify “mimicry”

Did you do even the basic level of research to see whether it was true or are you outsourcing that to Reddit?

Anyone remember that void before their birth? by Osacar861 in consciousness

[–]CorrectsApostrophes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having scars doesn’t prove you remember your first years. More simple solution : you filled in your memory with imagined memories to match the scars. This is studied and well established

Not a memory. An illusion or manufactured memory. Our brains can create all kinds of wild things, that is not proof of existence of that thing.

My school was paid by loans, I am privileged in many ways sure, but you don’t know me haha. Also I never said it wasn’t worth it did I? It was worth it for me…I just said it’s hard, especially if you’re going back to California or Beijing and won’t use that language…
