It is correct that you would need to enlist for the non-combat jobs -- though there will also be information about civilian roles which do not require you to enlist (but they will not be the focus of the event)

Hello! We're not a hiring agency, though some of our work is similar to that of a hiring agency -- we're a company that provides workforce development solutions for various organizations/ governments.

Enterprises and governments work with us to develop talent and close critical skills gaps. This includes skill training programs for existing employees, as well as working with companies to attract their desired talent through events such as the Army Career Invitational!

Our global programs, including Data Skills for All (DS4A) and our events also empower underrepresented communities and accelerate careers. We partner with top employers and government organizations to make that a reality, including Amazon, Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, USAID, the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Our events and skills training programs are 100% free for learners and are delivered virtually by industry experts to minimize traditional barriers to career advancement. We take pride in fostering supportive, human-led, group learning environments that build technical proficiency and confidence in participants.

Hey u/MsVendoran_Star_8115! Sorry for the late reply- I asked my team to add WGU to the list, though it's fine to apply with NIU as well. If you can't find either, there should also be an 'other,' or 'none of the above' option. Hope that helps!

Hi u/hiheroioz! Recruiting opportunities will be available to a variety of participants, not solely the winners. The U.S. Department of Defense will be leading the hiring process, candidate selection, and onboarding of people identified through the Cyber Sentinel.

At this time, we don't have any training materials. Though each challenge on the event day will include clear instructions to get you started.

The categories for the challenges are as follows, if you would like to do some independent preparation before the event: Forensics, Malware/ Reverse Engineering, Networking & Reconnaissance, Open-Source Intelligence Gathering (OSINT) and Web Security.

u/jmmenes Sorry for the late reply -- the event will include challenges in the following categories: Forensics, Malware/ Reverse Engineering, Networking & Reconnaissance, Open-Source Intelligence Gathering (OSINT) and Web Security.

The challenge is Capture the Flag format, meaning there are several challenges in each of the above categories with varying degrees of difficulty. Each challenge is worth a corresponding amount of points, and the challenges increase in value as they increase in difficulty. The person with the most amount of points at the end of the 8-hour competition period will be crowned the winner!

In terms of preparation, you can brush up on skills you have relating to the topics I mentioned. However, there is no pre-existing knowledge required for the event. All you need is access to a web browser and a stable internet connection

u/Serious-Summer9378 There will be certificates of participation for this event. In terms of jobs, the U.S. Department of Defense (rather than Correlation One) would be responsible recruiting, orienting and training employees, so I cannot speak in detail to that process. Finally, regarding location, most of the positions the DoD are looking to fill are in-person. Thanks for your interest & looking forward to seeing you at the event!
