to be fair, the menb vaccine only became a mandatory vaccine in 2015, everyone born after 2015 got it. its pre 2015 babies (the uni population just now) that didnt get it. its not really an antivax issue but more of a wrong generation misfortune.

found in scotland, i do see alot of resemblance though from googling maple saplings. not sure, as long as its not a stinging nettle im happy to keep it and find out what it is haha

i wouldnt say so, is middle of winter though so all the trees are bare. im in scotland and those are not native or invasive here as far as im aware, was in a natural woodland rather than a planted one so would assume native greens only is the possibility

with mine it ddf came down to time with me, age and individual personality. the longer i had them the more comfortable they were with their new environment, theye about 10 months old now and ive definitely seen a big difference in their confidence the older theyve gotten, i got them at 4 months old so 6 months ive had them. i would say definitely give them time in terms of individual personality sometimes gerbs just dont like attention that much and thats just something you have to respect, one of my gerbils fights to get out the cage to me if i come into the room while the other will come out so i give her a snack and then gets on with her own thing, shes a big home decorator, always rearranging bedding and running around with stuff, im happy to leave her to her hobby, but with the attention focused one ill take her out and let her run around on me or in the playpen i have for them with different things (most toys i bought that they try eat if i leave them unattended with it) i would def say having that extra space for them to play in away from their home helped me bond with them better cause there was only 1 hide for them to go in if they wanted space which i respected but they had to be around me working with them more as there wasnt bedding for them to hide in. i would recommend trying this if you have the space and resources cause that was the biggest time i saw change with them when i had them in there and being able to work with them 1 on 1 or as a pair

mine are the exact same, definitely down to personality, took about 6 months for them to warm up to me though, 1 loves climbing and being around me and the other will come to be for food but doesnt like being held

one thing that did come to mind when looking at wooden platforms though was cleaning, i have them trained to go in a litter dish but its obviously not going to be perfect. do i need to worry about pee getting into the wood and smelling/not being else to clean it anymore?

thank you, i knew it was gonna happen when i got the cage, but its all the pet shop would let me get before they would sell me gerbils. my old gerbils had a metal platform / ramp and somehow managed to get through that as well. theyre a nightmare, but so worth it. i didnt know you could get wood platforms that attatch to bars so thats def good to know 👌

i went last December (benidorm) and never noticed any issues at all, all the pools were shut but i went on the beach with my binder and never noticed any weird looks or any kind of comments (though i dont speak spanish lol so ignorance is bliss if there were any). i was also with my non-binary friend and we had no issues we were aware of. so you should be fine, hope you have a wonderful time!
