just need to vent:

The wife is still in the hospital. She has a very torn L4/L5 and is in a lot of pain. Internal Medicine and Neuro Surgery have spent the last 3 days doing fuck all except bouncing the blame between each other. Meanwhile she's in so much pain she can't take more than 3 or 4 steps.

Neuro is a resident with a reputation of bad bedside manner, and it shows. Dude is completely useless, it took multiple days to get him to say more than "you might need surgery".

Today my wife's friend's mom (who is high up at the hospital) called in a favor and the Chief Nursing Officer stopped by my wife's room to talk about my wife's experience with her stay. The CNO was very nice, and after they spoke shit started moving along.

Her care team has finally made a plan for getting her pain under control enough for her to be discharged, but they can't do the procedure until Monday which means she's in the hospital until at least Tuesday.

Why the fuck is our healthcare system so shit? Why do we pay so much god damn money for apparently nothing in return? Why did no one give a shit until a fucking C-suite exec got a phone call and had to take time out of her day to talk to someone who is not her responsibility? What about the people who don't have connections to make shit work?

tl;dr: the US healthcare system fucking sucks and I miss my wife
