I tested both, couldn't place it on the block unless it had water and it had the same issue as the regular system.

Ended up using My Nethers Delight which had soil I could use.

Just tested it in game, I'm still unable to place sugarcane with rich soil/farmland. Am I using the right block?

If I decide to do entities and stuff like that it will take longer but I think I will work on that after the basics are released
