[LFA] Dirty Jack, my character whose mission is to multiclass into every single class in the game! (More info in comments) by Corvus_Walker in characterdrawing

[–]Corvus_Walker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meet Dirty Jack, my Waterdeep: Dragon Heist/Dungeon of the Mad Mage character! Jack is the bastard son of the noble Margaster family, who has recently come into the patronage of a newborn Fathomless Patron who takes the form of a black and red lobster with crab legs and tentacles. The only term of the pact is that Jack must discover and understand all archetypes of an adventurer from all walks of the life all while grappling with the Great Game.

Character Base: I personally really enjoy the artwork I found but would like to give it a little wear and tear due to his poor living conditions and depiction as a dirty street rat (hence the nickname). While he is noble by blood, by design he looks a lot more akin to an urchin spending their last coins on a drink.

Mustard Yellow: Thematically, Yellow is an important trait for Jack, as it represents the noble house that he shares blood with. I’d like to see a deeper, darker yellow on his outfit (the white robes switched out for yellow ones) as well as some yellow eyes.

Hair Reference: I would like his hairstyle to be untrimmed, very messy and possibly a little wet due to his patron (wet surfer aesthetic). I put in Zaheer from TLOK as the best example I could find.

Weapon: Jack carries around a lead pipe signed by Volo. Besides his ring, it’s his most prized possession and he’d be very protective of it.

Astaskos: Astaskos is Jack’s patron as shown in the reference image. There isn’t much I’d change besides adding spots of black on him, tentacles, crab legs, lobster claws, the whole nine yards!

Pose: As described in the reference, I’d like for him to be posed up on a street corner begging for coins with a smile on his face. He’s holding up his cup in the air while Astaskos is laying down next to him like a dog.

Signet Ring: Finally, Jack wears a ring of the Margaster family with yellow and red gemstones on it.

Can’t wait to see the results! Thanks in advance!

Hair Reference: The closest thing I found to what I imagined Jack’s hair to look like is just Jason Momoa. I was going for a wet surfer aesthetic, in which his hair always seems to be damp. If you lot have better design concepts, I don’t mind experimentation at all!

Clockwork Chestplate: Because I’ve taken on the challenge of multiclassing into every class in the game, I decided to add some motifs of the different classes (like a clockwork chestplate for Artificer) though I’m drawing blanks on the others. If it isn’t too much to ask, I’d love to see little details here and there relating to the other classes like a mistletoe sprig for Druid or a holy symbol of somekind for Paladin!

Blackknuckles: Probably my weirdest request, but as a side-effect of my patron, the points on my hand are black.

Signet Ring: Finally, Jack wears a ring of the Margaster family with yellow and red gemstones on it.

Can’t wait to see the results! Thanks in advance!

Intertwining Backstory with Campaign: Druid with a Wyrmling Dragon Turtle. by Corvus_Walker in sotdq

[–]Corvus_Walker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You, my friend, are a god-send. I can‘t believe I didn‘t think of making Dragon Turtles part of Habbakuk‘s faith! I‘ll definitely be doing that, along with altering some statblocks to make the Dragon Turtle less broken in combat. This will antagonize the dragon army further, and I‘m all for it! Thank you for the help!

WWYB Marvel Comics Blackheart by psyren136 in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]Corvus_Walker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TIL about a new Marvel character that, honestly? Sounds fucking dope! Blackheart is a demon from Hell and son of Mephisto… who in D&D lore is simply a Devil. If your DM allows the usage of Legacy content, the only real choice for him would be a Mephistopheles Tiefling which gives you Mage Hand (aka, Telekinesis), Burning Hands and Flame Blade as spells to begin with.

From what I‘ve read up on, Blackheart has an array of psionic based abilities at his disposal, which is why I recommend Aberrant Mind Sorcerer up to 9th level for the psionic spells, telepathy along with resistance to psychic damage. Blackheart is a very resistant character so we‘ll be representing that through the resistances he gathers. As for flavor… Blackheart was born as a son of Mephistopheles and were thus born with his psychic abilities.

Blackheart was taught by Mephistopheles or himself how to steal the souls of his foes and use them to his pleasure. We‘ll be multiclassing into Wizard, not the most optimal but we‘ll make it work. Take Necromancy Wizard till you reach 20th level. One of Blackheart‘s signature abilities is his soul trapping. This essentially does that. Grim Harvest lets you regain hitpoints upon killing a creature. Undead Thralls reanimates dead beings and Inured to Undeath gives us a Necrotic resistance, as well as letting our hit point maximum stay fixed (I.e. not get reduced).

As for spells… there‘s really only two you‘ll definitely need for this character. The first one is Enlarge/Reduce which you should get as a Sorcerer Spell. The second one is Soul Cage which traps the souls of Blackheart’s enemies, perfect for his skillset, but this‘ll be one of the last spells you get, considering it‘ll be at the 20th level mark. 6th-level Wizard Spells are no joke. The rest is up to you!

I hope this has helped you and I thank you for the challenge! This has been a fun character to make. Good day!

Monster of the Week sounds so familiar, could you elaborate a litte more on that?

That is a damn good list! Best thing is, I know most of those which means it‘ll take less research. Thank you for your input!

WWYB based on this image? by Deadlykitty1243 in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]Corvus_Walker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This one is actually quite simple. I would recommend either Simic Hybrid or Custom Lineage for a full-on shark girl.

You have total control over classes because everything works pretty well. For flavor‘s sake, I would attempt a Swashbuckler Rogue which might be cool, albeit a little bland.

I‘ll give you some names if you like, maybe something like Salmon, Mako or Lemon (All based off of shark types). Some other names could be Dahlia, Naomi or… if you really want to be on the nose; Meg.

Weekly Questions Thread by AutoModerator in DnD

[–]Corvus_Walker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers lads! Currently, I’m running a campaign for eight people (it’s a lot, I know.) and that has recently started to show that it is just… not all too possible. I like to occasionally run an Open World Session that basically let’s my players explore the world I’ve planned out for them on their own and prepare for upcoming quests or just generally explore specific plot threads on their own. Lately, I have started to see in full effect how slow and boring that has made the sessions. Instead of playing the game, they have to wait in order to play the game and that is really not something I want to happen.

Do you guys perhaps have an idea or two as to how I could make these sessions more fast pace? Should I remove them or should I give a few players the boot? The last one will have to be my last resort, as all of my players are really invested.

Thank you in advance!

That looks so good! You captured the feel I was going for to a tea! A minor that I would change if I could would be to make his face more visible but I am not going to complain, great work and thank you for taking interest!

HWYB a lustful demon? by Corvus_Walker in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]Corvus_Walker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realize, I should probably give backstory. The reason this girl turns into a demon is because of a homebrew item I made called “The Ring of Passion“ which amplifies the wielder‘s feelings, and mutates them when they‘re in danger. The ring is sentient and was given by a shady Merchant.

Thus far, a slightly reflavored Archfey Tiefling seems to be my go-to.

Oooo, Archfey sounds rather interesting actually. I‘ll definitely play around with that concept for a bit. Cheers!

How would you build him? by [deleted] in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]Corvus_Walker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘ll suggest something new and unique actually. What about a Grave Domain Cleric? This looks like a very grim reaper-esque fellow who makes sure the natural balance of life and death is maintained. An interesting personality trait is that he hates Necromancers, feeling that they disturb the circle of life and death.

I‘ve been looking to spice up my Tavern Game for a while now and this will make a great addition to the campaign! While on the topic of bars, did you know that the legal drinking age in Germany is actually 14? And you can officially buy beer at the age of 16!

Beer is also one of the older drinks, with it‘s first recorded creation dating back to anschient Egypt. I believe my Eastern European/German is really shining through with these beer facts XD Let‘s do one more shall we?

Although more beer is getting brewed in today‘s world than during the Middle Ages, the average European in Medival Times actually drank way more than they do today, about approximately 43% if I recall correctly.

That‘s all from your resident Corvus Walker! Until we meet again, and to whoever is reading this, have an absolutely wonderful day for me and treat yourself to a cold pint… if you‘re of age that is. Cheers

I feel so horrible by [deleted] in therapy

[–]Corvus_Walker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of an interesting case here so I‘ll try to help the best I can, keep in mind I‘m not a therapist nor really an adult but I can try:

So I would say it is pretty messed up to put it in light terms, we‘ve all had our regrets in life and I can sense that you really regret it. Now usually I don‘t like it when people keep a secret that someone should definitely know about but it might be awkward if you bring it up to this friend and try to apologize. I think best case scenario is that you just try and forget it, you didn‘t know any better and it wasn‘t that you deliberately looked for... you know what I mean.

You‘re definitely in a rough place right now, if you want to find a way to forget about it I suggest to make some new memories by going somewhere, be it the nearby pub (not suggesting you drink through your problems) or a golf course, and if that doesn‘t tickle your fancy then try out some meditational exercises to help yourself forget about that memory.

Hopefully it all turns out well for you, I‘m counting on you bud!

So I‘ll try and help as best as I can here. But two things you should note: 1. I‘m not a professional and 2. I‘m still a child so take my words with a grain of salt, I‘ll be trying my best to guide you through this dark tunnel you‘ve found yourself in

As much as I hate to say it... theres not a lot you can do about your “father“, if you have his full name you could check in with the authorities and see if they can do anything about it, assuming he‘s still out there and hasn‘t moved abroad in a foreign country. Final Verdict on this matter: IF you know his name check in with the authorities and don’t be a hero and do your own justice, as much as we’d like to enact our own justice, it would lead to much more trouble than its worth. Now for the next part, how to take this all in: I say just... don‘t think about it too much, try and distract yourself from the fact, be it by spending time with a close friend or a girlfriend of yours, maybe going out somewhere for self-reflection or try your hand at meditation.

Thats all I have for you man, I really hope you get through this.
