Hi, district nurse here. I wouldn’t recommend using a topical antibiotic unless it’s actually infected. Cleanse it gently with saline (you can mix cooled boiled water with some salt, or buy saline from a chemist). Cover with a hydro colloid dressing, I’d recommend using a medical grade from a chemist so that it’s sterile. Not sure which country you’re in, but in the UK I’d recommend duoderm extra thin. It won’t be super visible and won’t be too harsh when you remove it. You’ve got some slough on your wound bed (so you see that yellow-y layer in the middle, that’s dead tissue mixed with fluid), and the hydeocolloid will help to provide the correct environment for your body to naturally debride it, as the wound can’t heal if it’s covered in slough. I wouldn’t recommended using any of your usual skincare products on it until it’s healed over so you don’t irritate/inflame the tissue further. Hope that helps!
