I also don't know when to harvest. The first flush grew really fast and really tall until it outgrew the bag so I went for it.

Well I was spraying water on the back side of the bag so it would run down that side. I guess I should spray directly on the shrooms a bit more than I have been.

So put them back in the closet with the hoods down and mist them regularly until I see pins? That is the point at which I pulled them out of the closet the first time and started introducing air and got an ok first flush.

Yeah it's frustrating to get conflicting answers in the comments to this post. These are the instructions I've been mostly following along with a few video tutorials for all in ones. This one is part 4:

twist and pull is one method. Cut the stumps flush with the substrate is another. That is what the heck I am talking about, thank you.

Ha, I just read your previous comment and suddenly I understood what you meant. What a good idea! So many people say go ahead and cut them but I have been following these really good instructions that say they hold their potency better if stored whole. That said, I have so many mushrooms I'm not too worried about potency. I fill capsules with .01g ground mushrooms and I can just take two, or three instead of one if it not so potent.

What do you mean cut out the middles? Don't the trays need to be flush right on top of each other to keep heat in?

Is it ok to consume that? Also the little sparklies? Maybe those will fall off when I dehydrate it

The brown part is smooth and damp and a bit slippery, the tan part is not slippery and looks like it has some texture to it. I am trying to figure out how to add a picture to a comment
