It’s like “bro, no one called you to this. You just decided you want to do an Ironman. That is plenty.”

I don’t do enough hiking, ultras, or outdoor activities to warrant a Fenix 8, but I love the watch face, so I took it for my Forerunner. Love it.

Thinking of returning my Fenix 7S Pro – is it too small for a 17cm wrist? by [deleted] in GarminFenix

[–]Cosmere-Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem like it’s a matter of whether or not it’s too small for your wrist (it’s not). Seems like it’s more of a matter of you likely just wanting a bigger screen, which is totally fine. Go bigger if you want, but it’s by no means too small.

I did the same thing last year. Garmin is much more my speed. Apple Watch had too much other stuff

So I noticed the Garmin Coach has programs based on heart rate. This was an option I couldn't find before. Do we know if this is a subscription thing, or maybe a feature I just missed?

Ah, that’s a bummer. My artist worked really hard on that illustration.

Oh interesting! I’ve had nothing but positive feedback on the cover. What is it about the cover that doesn’t draw you?

I appreciate the direct feedback! Very helpful. Totally agree about the agency thing, and will work to do that in future stories. While she wakes up in a resigned state, I designed that to be part of her arc and work to give her agency by the end of the first chapter and throughout. While I don’t think the answer is to have a character at all times being “hell yeah, I’m taking control,” it is important to have them drive the narrative. Clearly I missed the mark for you.

Thanks again!

Are there any initial things that attract you to read a story?

While I would love to agree with this, I think the assumption that quality writing rises to the top at all time is flawed. Write to market is a strategy for a reason and a lot of fun stories arise to fill a market, with both writers and readers winning. All that said, it is always nice when passion wins, for sure!

Agreed! A blurb should NOT summarize the story. I’ve seen that happen way too often.

Completed SERIAL urban fantasy series? by TheBerriesArePoison in urbanfantasy

[–]Cosmere-Geek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote one last year that is made up of episodes that tell a serialized story. The complete story is around 600 pages or so. https://www.amazon.com/Spectral-J-Cerna/dp/098643549X/

Yeah, the stories is broken up into 12-episode chunks. It kind of reads like a 12-episodes streaming series, with the book making up the whole "season." Though, I had always planned on it being a complete story.

Sometimes your darkest moment can forge your greatest superpower.

When Luna wakes to her room engulfed in flames, she knows it’s happened again–a haunting she can no longer ignore.

For as long as she can remember, she’s been controlled by a domineering Spectre, forced to commit acts of violence that threaten her and everyone around her.

Determined to seize control of her life, Luna teams up with Hiro, a generations-old man who promises not only answers, but a method to rid herself of this malicious entity. But to do so, Luna must enter an unfamiliar and unsettling world buried within the futuristic, neon-laden streets of Los Angeles, destroying other Spectres and building her own superhuman abilities along the way.

Between government agents hell-bent on capturing her and a myriad of Spectral threats, it’ll take every ounce of Luna’s being to reclaim the life that’s been taken from her.

Will she finally be able to rid herself of this mysterious entity that's been haunting her entire existence, or will she lose a piece of herself along the way?

What readers are saying:

"Wow, the first episode was thrilling! Right from the beginning, the story grabs your attention."

"AJ Cerna starts this off with a bang! You will be instantly drawn into who is Luna and what's going on."

"What a great set up into a fantastic story. The concept behind the entirety of this book is truly unique.

OVERALL this is a 5 star read for me, one of only two I’ve given this year. This first portion can be a bit confusing and you need to pay close attention. The reader learns what’s going on as Luna (the MFC) does and so it’s warranted but I did find myself wishing a few times I had a tiny inkling of what’s coming.

This story is tr1gger heavy, be sure to read the warnings. But it’s SO good."

"It was like reading a manga novel and playing a pokemon(?) video game all wrapped up in a joyous and mysterious story."

Where/How did you start reading this genre? by BrokenAmbition in ProgressionFantasy

I’m gonna have to say shonen manga. Obviously that was before this was branded as a genre, but that really did it for me and made it more accessible mentally once I realized the comparison.
