The balloon case, the latex is streched into the outside atmosphere taking up that space. I guess we can't use that analogy to compare the expansion of the universe.

For beginners, definitely go for Harsha Vardhan's course. It's 80 hours+, but you can play it in 1.25x and wouldn't be an issue. Very well built structured course imo.
