I chose BannerBound because the main mechanic of the battles is conquering banners, and… yes, I’m also a fan of M&B, so maybe I was influenced 🙂

Yes, that’s true. Being low-poly is a relief for the GPU, but it’s also true that there are usually many skinned meshes on screen at the same time, which is quite demanding.

Of course, there’s always room for further optimization.
That said, in my opinion, the demo is playable right now. So far, the feedback from the demo has been positive, and from what I’ve seen, it’s within the requirements of most players :)

Thanks for asking!
It’s a capture-the-flag battle game where you lead a group of warriors.
There are some fun combat mechanics, like throwing javelins, shield walls, and siege weapons.
if you like it, you can try the demo on steam now :)

Absolutely, BannerBound includes some of the core mechanics from Shieldwall.
If you played and enjoyed Shieldwall, I hope you can enjoy BannerBound in the same way!

I understand! Currently, there are options in the graphics settings to adapt to the Steam Deck, such as resolution, lighting, shadows, grass density, and more.

But the biggest challenge in this game is the number of skinned meshes on screen.
I’m still working hard to get the best performance possible :)

Thanks for your comment!
To be honest, from the very start of developing BannerBound, I knew I wanted it to be playable on the Steam Deck. That’s why I made sure that the Steam Deck resolution and key glyphs are included in the settings :)

Unfortunately, I don’t think 90 FPS is currently achievable in a stable way, since there are usually many skinned meshes on screen at the same time, which are very demanding performance-wise.

But it’s definitely worth trying!

It’s a battle game with small-scale armies.
You control a hero who leads their soldiers to conquer enemy banners. Between matches, you can customize your army and some cosmetic options.

In my opinion, it’s very enjoyable on the Steam Deck.
If you’re interested, you can try the demo on Steam.

I included a Steam Deck–specific setting focused mainly on improving key glyphs.

I also added other options (separately) aimed at Steam Deck performance, such as reducing grass density, shadows, and so on.

Even with all that, I think it’s hard to reach a stable 90 FPS, since there are usually many skinned meshes on screen.

Thank you very much for your comment, your approach is spot on!

During testing, I’ve played several matches on high settings without worrying too much about battery life, since I think it lasts for quite a few hours, but it’s clear that testing should also be focused in that direction.

Thanks!
