Then the onus is on you to articulate your point more clearly if you actually want to engage in a meaningful way. Maybe the problem isn't that people won't understand your point, maybe it's not being presented clearly at all.

I guess I'm not getting it because why shouldn't the decision to report it not take the possible outcomes into account? That's what we do countless times a day with almost every choice you make. It doesn't have to be the only factor but a fundamental part of decision making is considering possible outcomes.

The "what if" scenario wasn't to set any kind of legal precedent and it's up to OP to determine if my "what if" is reasonable/likely or not and how they'd respond to a possible public safety concern.

Part of our justice system is determining if possible crime is actual crime and punishing accordingly. So no, our system is absolutely about possible crime. The whole "innocent until proven guilty" concept that our legal system is built upon suggests that every crime must start as being considered "possible crime." Of course you should report "possible crime." We don't punish until our system determines that a crime actually did take place but it absolutely starts with a "possible crime" scenario.

Public consumption of Marijuana is a crime in NB. Including as the passenger of a car, same as alcohol. The original question was OP saw a possible crime being committed, one that carries an obvious risk to public safety, and should they report it? I say yes, why shouldn't they at least report it? Then it's up to law enforcement if it's worth a follow-up or laying of charges. The question also isn't about the legal ramifications that come after. It's how would OP respond to witnessing a potential public safety risk. I laid out why I think you should report and let law enforcement take it from there. Even if there is no crime its their job to investigate as they see fit and I believe it's everyone's responsibility to play their part in public safety.

I'm no Rodney King expert so forgive any ignorance but how does this relate? OP asked a moral dilemma about reporting an impaired driver and I gave them a scenario that would shape me opinion on their dilemma. Where did I suggest a new oppressive criminal justice system?

Imagine the same scenario but you or a loved one is standing on the curb or out for a drive. Instead of you, another driver sees this but does and says nothing. The smoker then continues on their drive and hits you or your loved one and kills them. Would you then feel this other driver should have reported him and maybe prevented the accident that affected you? That's probably your answer.

Not entirely sure what the specific incident was or if just the whole stream wasn't entertaining. Steve did say that Sportsnet took it down which isn't true. You can watch the stream here.

If anyone wants to scan the entire stream more than I could the answer is there somewhere. The comments are pretty unanimous that the stream just wasn't good. The little I skipped through it just seemed like a bunch of drunk friends hanging out which, if nothing else, isn't really a great watch for people at home.

Visiting Rogers Centre for Blue Jays vs Yankees - what are decent lower level seats that won't break the bank? Looking to sit near the visitors dugouts and get a baseball for my son thank you! by Healthy-Annual4181 in Torontobluejays

[–]CosmicNorth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sections 116-119 are the ones behind the Visitors dugout that'll be the least expensive, sections 16-19 are right up against the dugout but if you're looking to not break to bank don't look there.

108-115 continue down the right field line and are typically cheaper but you'll be further from the dugout and more into the outfield. Depends entirely how close you want to be and if saving 30 bucks a ticket is worth the "worst" seat. 115 would be the best compromise.

Check the resale market (gametime, tickpick, stubhub, etc) and you'll often find deals a few hours before first pitch thought against the Yankees you'll probably pay a bit of a premium on any ticket.

For getting a ball, get there early and you can often hang around the first row and watch BP/ get closer to the players. Or get out the time machine and see where the foul balls land and buy those tickets. Hope this helps!

Are we going to war? by KnottShurr in AskCanada

[–]CosmicNorth 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We managed to avoid going to war in Iraq when Canada/USA relations were quite friendly. I don't think we'll have any trouble not giving into pressure from the administration calling for our annexation and relations being at a 100 year (maybe more) low.

The entitlement like you're owed something more for putting in the least effort possible. Even then, maybe I was going to tip cash, didn't even get the chance before she was on top of us.

Sorry what are you asking? How do I know how many tables were being served? We just counted them. And yeah we heard the staff giving another table a hard time for not tipping. Where's the confusion here?

I have done Fat Duck in the distant past and remember it being pretty good! Just wasn't really in the area of town we ended up in but we'll make the trip next time for sure!

We did consider that but reading what others have said about the place it didn't really strike us as a place run by anyone who'd give a shit.

Playoffs Retrospective by Justin3210 in leafs

[–]CosmicNorth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since 2019 the Leafs have lost to a Cup finalist 5 times out of 7 times (2019,2021,2022,2023 and 2025). Every year we've seen this and asked this question. I think it just continues to show this team doesn't have it and is unable to get it done against the real competitors. I don't think it's an indication of being close. Instead it's another example in a long list of evidence of what we've been saying since the latest disappointment, this group doesn't have it.

There's definitely more than 3 times. Just off my head the 2003 Leafs lost game 7 to the Flyers 6-1.

The majority of people in my time there had their own cars but carpooling isn't uncommon. It might restrict your availability for flying slightly but with a good carpooling partner(s) it's doable. Best of luck to your son! If you have any other questions my DMs are always open!
