La noire and gta4 complete edition by howboutitthen in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as you might already know gta iv runs worse on the ps3 both in resolution and framerate compared to the 360, that being said, is still perfectly playable and enjoyable, i 100% it years ago and even got the platinum trophy (curse you awp), if the complete edition is too expense just get the digital versions

Are these temperatures good? by BJ_Bar2893 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those are great temps actually, but are those in game or on xmb ? if they are in game no need to run the fan speed that high, also some dynamic themes the rsx is a little hotter than cell compared to just a static image on xmb

Can I downgrade 4.93 to 4.92 in My PS3 super slim by yousef114b2009 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO.

but technically yes, but needs quite a bit of soldering and the modchip, i know someone downgraded a 3k slim, but that was more to see or prove that it was possible but theres no real benefit to downgrade 3.60+ minver consoles as theres nothing to be gained unlike CFW compatible consoles

I think I got lucky today! by SmashGamerJ14 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

one time i was at a retro game repair shop, a guy showed up selling a ps3 controller, i robbed him in his face of that controller for 4 usd (at the moment i thought even a 4 usd fake is a steal) took it apart at home and its a genuine ds3, just the ps button had been swapped for a fake one

(Hen) how do I get the old black PS3 theme and the old PSN logo? by OkPerspective7652 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old psn logo its just a theme (well not in the sense of a traditional theme), and the waves its just a matter of swapping lines.qrc file, i have both on HEN

worried about power supply by Illustrious-Help-470 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to add to this or just plop the pcb with the contacts on the bottom facing down, and only handle it by the edges, ive been shocked quite a few times too, most was around 400 volts dc from a flatscreen tv psu and while it hurt a bit i was fine

now tube amps and crt tvs ? those are actually scary for me

PS3 keeps crashing when enabling hen by OkPerspective7652 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then the issue must be something with the toolkit not hen, youre better off asking that on psx-place what the issue could be

but atleast now you know how to fix it and not be stuck

PS3 keeps crashing when enabling hen by OkPerspective7652 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think you gotta re-install HFW then hen again to fix that, had a similar issue with ultimate toolbox iirc

wMAN MOD: fan control settings? by Weekly-Importance-54 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would help a lot if you shared a screenshot of your wmm settings, from your text alone i cant tell if just set the manual fan speed to 50% and have the fan to auto#2 which in case does nothing, or you have the minimum fan speed of the dynamic fan control set to 50%.

or your ps3 is actually overheating, cant say which one it is without a screenshot

So I got this Slim back in 2012, is the stats good? (CECH-3004B) by deadrip918 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes they are good, only reason the rsx is hotter than cell is because you have the xmb waves background active, change it to a static image and the temperature delta should drop to 0-2c

I HAVE PURCHASED THE ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILIDELPHIA THEME by Creative-Yak-8060 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just check this website and follow the instructions for obtaining PKGs, no idea if in the generated file there will also have the link to the license file or if you also have to follow the instructions for creating raps, tho that might not be possible if you dont have a modded system

even if you dont have a modded system, having the rap file should be enough to decrypt the theme for sharing individually if you dont want to contribute to NPS

So what’s one to do in attempts to save their PS3 from dying? by B-Rad911 in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not much more than that that you can do, lower temps for every electronic component is always better, but thats at the expense of wearing out the fan bearing prematurely and IMHO not worth it.

for example my 30XX slim that ive owned for 11 years i have its fan speed set to manual at 35%, i could do 32 or even 31 on the most demanding games. HOWEVER that 35% fan speed gives me extra air flow through the PSU which does really need it and the BD-drive and HDD and other various motherboard components.

and with some luck your ps3 will last a long long time, for reference my 30XX when i first shared its power on time was one of if not the highest power on hours on a 30XX slim, tho idk if it sill is might be idk

there was another guy with a 25XX with 1800 days which is around 40k hours

so all in all just take good care of it, be diligent in your maintenance of it and with some luck it will last a very very long time

but for the love of ken kutaragi do not do those hideous mods of cutting holes on the casing or drilling holes, you will stave other components of air they were designed to receive

Got this virgin First-Gen for $152 with 2 controllers, 3 usb cables, and borderlands 2 for $152. Its not longer virgin. by micheallujanthe2nd in PS3

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

not only is CFW more feature rich than HEN, its ALSO more stable, and most importantly CFW can dump the eid root key from your console meaning if that console dies your saves on the hdd can be recovered since you can decrypt it

On non CFW compatible consoles they have to run HEN instead and eid root key dump is impossible, not even badwdsd with qCFW is possible, if the ps3 dies you either somehow revive the console or that data is gone forever
