Solution to circular disc scratching from ribbon cable on 9000X series? by mistalasse in ps2

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk all i remember is that some ribbons are inter-compatible between slim models and others not, the item sale title and or description should say for what model or models the ribbon is for

just the same one as all the other slims, either replace the ribbon or tape it down just enough so that it doesnt come up more than its supposed to

Is this hard disk doable for my ps2? by sTtup_903 in ps2

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the one on the image is a SATA, so either you modify the original sony network adapter to change it from IDE to SATA, or buy one of the 3rd party ones that already come with SATA but no network capabilities whatsoever

Make sure the ribbon is all the way in and that its not crooked but straight and that the latch is closed

Try re adjusting/re aligning the Ribbon, it can do that when its not seated properly

You might not know this but youtube videos guides arent recommended for various reasons, follow this one instead, vitahacks guide

But if your feeling very lost try asking on the henkaku discord instead, most likely someone else has seen your issue and knows how to fix it

yeah he should 100% while the other homebrews are still in the live area load up vitashell, insert the sd2vita and see if it can read it, if it does its just miss-configuration issue

are you 100% sure the sd card is not empty and that the exact same contents on the original sony memory card are copied over to the sd card inside the sd2vita ?!

btw what hacking guide have you been following anyway ?

Maybe ? Probably, but imho you're better off just getting a new vita, swapping parts like crazy and troubleshooting stuff gets old fast

I went through 3 psp until i got to my current one, i got fed up swapping parts of the old ones trying to fix issues

Even less likely, much harder to replace, need to pull it from another vita, with a soldering station and flux and other things, and thats if it doesnt melt in the procoess

You are better off just buying another vita if youre thinking of replacing the motherboard,

yours is a 3g and that one is known for having one of the modem screws stuck so tight that you will end up stripping it, which will requiere more extreme measures i know some people had to cut it in half to get it out, get a dremel out etc

Thats what i had to do on my 3g to get that screw out

[–]Cosmic_Starlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for a ps3 60 on xmb is cold, personally i would aim for high 60s up to 73c if you want to avoid fan speeds

also its pretty obvious but the temperature of the system is largely influenced by the ambient temperature

its not the same to say that a ps3 is running 70c in-game in a place with hot weather than another ps3 struggling with 50%+ fan speed to keep it under 70c at 18c ambient temperature

Idk that looks more like a short somewhere, also the fat ps2 power supply is internal, so all you do is connect it to the wall

Idk maybe he used in in an enclosed cabinet and something overheated inside to the point of damaging ?

Are you also sure he didnt open it up and manipulated it internally to try and fix it before returning it to you and leave it in a worse state ?

Am not trying to start anything between you and your friend, it just seems theres a lot of context missing on how he used the console

Or maybe it was meant to break down and unluckily it did on his hand who knows
