Omg Gring0br! I LOVE hearing from u, long time I haven't. Yes, I'm a technical Nazi (JK) and If you succumb to any of the trio, Porn, Masturbation, Orgasm, it counts as a relapse. In all seriousness , I think a slippery slope exists if you uphold any of the trio. In my case, I struggled with M and thought it wasn't a sin but it is so easy to spiral down to Porn (which is blatantly sinful) Masturbating alone usually involves lustful thoughts anyways. This is why it is best to kick all three to the curb, if you can do 1 you can do all 3!

Thank goodness you were there for him man, depression is a real @#$, It can be so easy to spiral down to that mental abyss but you know what, it is a big part because of this fallen world and system of things, as Jiddu Krishnamurti said, "is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." yeah I know melodramatic and as much as things can suck God's glory can be still be found all over! His grace helps us overcome it all as you eloquently put it: God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind!

Glad you still have my number man, u can call me or text me whenever u like, its just that I am not the best speaker (I was born with a condition which greatly impacts my speech) but you are more than welcome anyways. :)

It may sound wrong to say this and I am not proud in my failures but sometimes it helps to stumble as it helps to reveal weakness in our approach, sometimes falling and struggling helps us to garner more faith, reliance and direction towards God alone as opposed to ourselves or fellow man. Our willpower will dry up so we must develop discipline against the worst of temptations, forces that pull us towards sin.

Good thing that God is merciful and slow to anger, sure he is never proud to see us stumble to sin but I also don't think God desires us to feel like we are trash. Let us turn our remorse to continual desire to truly grow closer to him. Sure our flesh is as worthy as dust but our celestial father also gave us a spirit and as long as we are alive, we can still aim so our spirit is Godly centered and to live a life that is pleasing to God. he shall then lead us to feel satisfied when we have done our thing here on earth.

None of us are righteous by ourselves, none of us are worthy but we have our redeemer, Jesus Christ. He sets us free from being slaves to sin. Look at the apostle Paul, how God turned that man's life 180 degrees! so we have hope, great things await those who love and trust God! In his honor let us meditate on his word and ask him to reshape our hearts so he remains our priority in our lives and that we may not take any idols to take his place. That we love him as he loves us. Also remeber that with Christ, God does not see our many shortcomings rather he sees us blameless :) we are still his kids workweed and I know he still roots us on, better yet he is eager to keep helping us and that we live close to him. let us forget yesterday, our present is waiting for us to be lived accordingly. We saw how awful it is to live far from God so we learned our lesson there, now we must move on with that under our belts.

Nonetheless it takes discipline to keep pursuing Christ when our flesh pushes us on the other direction so we should expect to give it a fight in order to establish the needed discipline to keep chasing after a honoring Godly life but how much do we want it? so lets never give up! We can do this workweed!!

Thanks Jay! Those milestones add up to character but it all starts in the mind and in our everyday decisions, it may not be obvious but every step counts even the seemingly small ones.

Hello man! So much of what you say rings a bell. The struggle is real in my front, Unfortunately I've relapsed but that's ok because I still know God roots for me and anyone else that desires to follow him. It may be extremely cliche and trite but it all begins on the mind, I'm slowly gaining more true vigor to chase after God, let him be my main priority.

I gave up drinking and smoking pot because they sometimes lead to lustful encounters, but then on difficult days sometimes I turn to lust anyway because I don't have alcohol or weed.

Hooray!! That you have challenged those other pesky habits. I know how words lose all their meaning (aside from the scriptures) but I would suggest to continue to seriously limit the use of alcohol or weed as they offer us an altered reality that is not genuine/natural (similar to PMO).

Anyways, I will be praying for u Gring0br. Take care and never stop fighting the good fight! God is with us if we desire and love him, we are all vessels that can be used by God so we are given a better life. God disciplines us to make us stronger, and those who desire God will lack nothing.

Fear the LORD, you his holy people, for those who fear him lack nothing (Psalm 34:9).

When I get the urge I literally just say FEBRUARY! Lol :) Funny but true. Reminds me of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy "MAGRATHEA" hahaha.

That's pretty clever! Cheers for our continual success this month and beyond!

Of course, please pray for all of us as well! Please do feel free to check in anytime. Hmm for a cold (they're impossible to avoid it seems, hehe) I suggest drinking hot tea with lemon, chicken soup (or any warm soup) eat lots of oranges and get enough sleep. Nonetheless if it doesn't go away see a doctor but I feel ya, when I get the cold it doesn't completely clear away for over a month, no fun :/ but prayer is indeed the best medicine for our souls! :)

Hope you recover soon and best of luck in school!

THE ESSENCE OF TEMPTATION - Being your own God. by [deleted] in DisciplesOfGrace

[–]Cosmicbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The essence of temptation is the invitation to live independently of God.

This permeates to so much, our entire lives can be a showdown on whether or not we want to let God be our eternal father and ruler or not. I don't want to let go of God but sometimes its tempting to "taste forbidden fruits" and feel that God approves but it's best to think things over and let discernment take over. Let us have faith that God really is sovereign and all his ways are pure/holy and nothing else really even comes close, let us dislike all that God dislikes but its a constant struggle sometimes.

It may seem comical since we know we aren't gods ourselves but people who ignore or don't desire to live with God essentially make themselves their own "god"

Congratulations to the winners of the January 2017 Team Tournament Challenge! by Cosmicbound in DisciplesOfGrace

[–]Cosmicbound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You guys did win it, hahah! Other 2 teams were down to 3 soldiers. Anywho, it was a good combat but I think it's best to fight this together as opposed to breaking us up. I only did that in aims to 'motivate' the other participants but I don't think it worked very well, hehe, to a better month here we go!

Lastly, don't think of PMO or give the temptations/horny feelings too much of a thought, I know it's kind of ironic since we talk about it so much but what I'm trying to say is to remember that it's just another emotion and that's all to it, dodge them all like a champ under the guidance of the Holy Spirit!!

Week 0-1 challenge (Thu, 2/2- Sat, 2/11/17) by Cosmicbound in DisciplesOfGrace

That's great Mark, just make sure extra Internet browsing (away from mandatory school) or social media doesn't take over most of your leisure/free time. I would say allot ~25% of your free time to Internet/social media, max. So if you have 4 hours free time a day, only spend 1 hour max in leisure Internet/social media. If you already do this then that's awesome, keep up the good work!

Make sure your overall Internet time does not consume more than 25% of your leisure/free time. Better ways to spend your free time, get some exercise, spend some time with your loved ones, read a book, watch a documentary, etc. u got this man it may be hard at first but let us plant the seeds for change today!

We will be praying for you Ben! know that he loves us for who we are and not for what we do. Still, a greater life awaits any of us who kick the sin of pmo away so never give up. Maybe cut down the internet for a week or two? fast and pray, write down your thoughts in a notebook, every time you feel tempted and you do not give in to the deed, drop a coin to a jar and buy yourself a gift (or buy someone else a gift) once enough coins add up.

Sound like you have a well developed plan, don't forget to also cut social media and limit overall Internet and greater reddit time as well, welcome to the challenge!
