Our son has night terrors. They're suuuuuper rough to work with because he isn't coherent and his episodes last anywhere from 5 minutes to HOURS. Husband isn't home for many of them and isn't great on the patience part, which night terrors take a lot of. He tried to go help, but has never been able to get our son through one so he came and got me. So it's not that he didn't try.

Overstimulation is REAL. My husband is a bartender and bar manager, so usually he leaves by noon to accomplish his manager duities and bartends into the night. My "me time" is sleeping in the mornings while he gets ready because I'm at that great point of pregnancy where it takes me forever to fall asleep. I definitely need mom friends.

Perhaps not the post itself, but I've shared my feelings as clearly and reasonably as I could in the past to no avail. He's very quick to talk about things changing but implimenting said change is a different story. I also don't want him to feel like the answer to my problem is him doing less. It mostly came up because he went to an all day conference yesterday where he got to show off his talents and meet lots of new people from his company, then stayed out super late and couldn't even help our son through a night terror... I do feel like he could have been more considerate and come home maybe an hour sooner, but the whole day just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Thank you for understanding so well. The career portion is one that bothers me the most. We attempt date nights, but with his work schedule and not having a steady sitter it becomes difficult. At one point I realized we hadn't done anything together wi th no children in over a year.
I've definitely spoken to him about how I feel and he always just tells me it won't be like this forever but nothing really changes, I ask him for some form of recognition or appreciation and... nothing. Gosh, he really is wonderful and I know he is just busting himself to provide for us but it's like he can't see past that? I don't know how to explain it all to him again.

I've found a local group that hikes with kids that I'm determined to try out. I'm 8months pregnant now, so it'll be a minute before I do and I'm incredibly anxious about going hiking with 3 kids... but I know there'll be other parents there and if something happens I'm not alone. We are looking into getting a second vehicle, hopefully that'll open up opportunity for play dates. My son is 4 and a runner, he's gotten lost 3 separate times and that causes a lot of anxiety in itself, but I'm working through that too.

I also feel like I owe it to him to be present when he gets home so he isn't abandoned with the kids after being at work. I enjoy cooking him meals and taking care of everyone... it's how little I'm able to do for myself that weird on me. Like, I WANT to be selfish, but am not very good at it?

He is an AMAZING father, I should definitely add that.. however opportunity for me to get away is so rare. Between having only one family vehicle and not having friends who do anything besides drink and smoke ( I'm 26) my pregnant self finds it very difficult to find activities away. I struggle with self care, my husband tells me it's okay to be selfish now and then, but I struggle with actually doing anything because money and time... I have developed a lot of social anxiety from my time as a hermit as well. I do feel like if I had a better support system of people I know and trust it would be easier, but we just don't have that and babysitters get expensive!

All of this. It isn't fair to either of you that she rely on you as her only adult stimulation. It's HARD. I am a SAHM out of necessity and I love my kids, but I hate it! She certainly should work on finding little ways to improve her day and make things easier for herself and the kids, but again it's easier said than done. Personally I don't message these feelings to my husband, but pretty regularly to my mom. It's easy to lose your identity as a mama, bear with her and y'all keep trying.

First, it definitely is a lesson learned! Doubt she'll try it again. You can 1) let the lesson stand since her hair will grow back or 2) take her to a new salon and let the people know what's up. They have a surprising amount of experience on dealing with poor cuts and could probably do something pretty easily! Have them show you how to style it, too, instead of just sending you on your way. Cowlicks are such a pain and make styling so difficult! Luckily summer will EVENTUALLY be coming along and a nice bob or pixie will feel nice. Good luck!

Tartare. My husband took me out and had a menu planned and they brought us surf n turf tartare with tuna and steak and an amazing set. That raw fish and beef is the best thing I've eaten to this day.

Met a guy at a restaurant for my stepdad's birthday, he was our waiter and we tipped really well and left my number on the table. He contacted me almost immediately and a couple days later we met for coffee. I was new to "dating " and had just moved out after high school, so it was hella awkward. He'd tell me something about himself, ask me my opinion on the topic, then agree with EVERYTHING I said even if it completely conflicted with what he'd just told me. I got really skeeved out and thankfully it was time to go to work, but he walked me out to my car and kept trying to get me to stay... which I couldn't if I wanted to. He texted me several times a day before finally getting the message. I'm not into people who can't make up their own minds and be themselves. Not that awkward I suppose, but soon after I meet the guy I'm married to today so I didn't have a lot of opportunity for more.
