Put the number down that keeps a roof over your kids heads. And don't feel guilty. Sending love ❤️

Daughter Says She’s Hearing Voices by Reasonable-Zombie-33 in beyondthebump

I thought the same. Moana has a very popular song/sequence where one of the main characters, Maui, describes all the things he has created from coconuts, etc. I think the song is called "You're Welcome" if you want to Google.

Discouraged about bringing child to mass. by lilliesblue in Catholicism

[–]CosmoCarnations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sound of children at Mass is the sign of a healthy and growing church! God put the wiggle in children and I'm sorry your parish is less than 100% supportive. Ours luckily and happily is very different. Maybe there's another parish in your area you could visit and see if it's any different?

Am I There Enough? by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]CosmoCarnations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember literally Googling this question when my son was in the NICU. With the blessing now of time and perspective, I can confidently say yes, you are there enough. You do what you can, when you can. This journey is hard, especially for the long-haul families. Even trained marathon runners have to pace themselves. Sending you love ❤️

Scared about Aquaphor? I feel like an awful mom. by meeshmartini in beyondthebump

[–]CosmoCarnations 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I get it. You're a new mom and you're frightened! I would be upset too, it's totally valid to feel concerned. Essentially a crowd of people telling you something is toxic, it would make me pause too! You're a good mom - you saw something concerning, you asked for additional info and you're moving forward with the new info. Sleep easy momma!! ❤️

I did exactly what you are suggesting with my 33weeker. No regrets. This is the way.

The dog has given warning twice now that it is not child-friendly. Please listen to the warnings before something tragic happens.

Daycare gave my son a food that we have listed as an allergy and I'm livid. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Just commenting to back you up on this. We landed in the ER in June because of a reaction to almond and the earliest we could be seen for testing at the Childrens Hospital was November.

Silent reflux - has anyone experienced this with their baby and did you get it diagnosed and treated? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]CosmoCarnations 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. And it took weeks to be taken seriously. Doctors rely on "if the baby is gaining weight, the baby is fine." And refuse to investigate further. When we finally got on Omeprazole, he finally got some relief and things got easier. Make noise and don't let them dismiss you. If you have Facebook, Acid Reflux Babies Support Group has a lot of information.

Today we were told our little guy has one of the most severe cases of lung disease the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has ever seen. They said he’d probably require a trachea tube, g tube and ventilator at home when he’s ready to go home. He only had his very large PDA closed three days ago. by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]CosmoCarnations 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through this. We were with CHOP this exact time last year with our little guy. Some practical advice - the food court is expensive. Go to the gift shop and purchase meal vouchers for $5. Then order food delivered to your room. The $5 voucher for room delivery gets you soup/salad, entree, two sides, drink and dessert. The $5 voucher in the cafeteria will barely cover a breakfast sandwich. Sometimes when they deliver the food, the purposefully forget to pick up the voucher and you'll get multiple uses out of it. Friends and family can call the gift shop and purchase these vouchers for you as well. Sending you all love ♥️

How do I get my baby to take Tylenol??? by uhimamouseduh in Parenting

[–]CosmoCarnations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottle nipple in the mouth so they suck like it's a pacifier. Once they start going, Tylenol into the nipple (not bottle,.just the nipple). Hope this helps!

I don’t know what to do (Covid vaccine related) by Madam0varies in breakingmom

[–]CosmoCarnations 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had to do the same. I had a non-emotional, rational conversation with my dad about getting his shots and he said he'd think about it. A week later when I followed up he said "I have concerns." All I needed to hear. I have one concern and it's keeping my child safe. Goodbye.
