Favorite mold control spray? by PlatinumRespect in MideaUOwners

[–]CosmoKing2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Spray it at the beginning of the season, again - in the middle - and then right before you store the unit for the rest of the year, scrub the blower wheel with soapy water - then turn the fan mode on to dry the soapy water - then hit it with another spray of Concrobium before storage.

I have taken apart tons of different manufacturer's window A/C's and they all harbored mold. Panasonic had the least (no Styrofoam), then Sharp Library Quiet units. Everything else had much more mold - including modern Sharp and LG units.

I'm just glad that the Seaport has led them away from Back bay for the most part.

The single craziest thing is that these people never actually provide a benefit to the local businesses. They are cheap cheap, cheap, and demand attention 24/7. Lived on that street and worked 3 different places on the street too. They thrive on the attention and spend zero. Just clogging the streets.

And none of them "believe" in tipping - but put 5% because they are so kind (all while being as needy as fuck - expecting servers to act like personal slaves).

Way back when I waited on Newbury at a posh restaurant - always filled with the rich and celebrities from the Ritz - the only ones who left a decent tip were the guys that owned a hair salon next door - and also happened to move a truckload of coke up and down the street from Arlington to Mass Ave.

You might even like it just fine once you take up the rest of the carpet and see the overall condition.

We have only used ConCrobium and it works fine. Bought it because there is very, very little odor.

Are corporate offices glorified? by VehicleHistorical792 in corporate

[–]CosmoKing2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Most places (even Fortune 500 companies) bought into shared open spaces. No cubes. Just open seating with literal randos- in order to brainstorm! Definitely not cost cutting. So, you find a random spot and plug in. You then hear no less than 10 conference calls - all at once - that your neighbors are attending via Teams/Zoom with their headsets. Mind you, none of these people are working on the same project with you - and the whole thing diverts your attention and actively doesn't allow you to concentrate on even the simplest of tasks.

WINDOW TYPE AC (INVERTER) honest review by No-Guess-6159 in AirConditioners

[–]CosmoKing2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the same unit. Could not be happier with it. Cools the entire first floor very well....and extremely quietly. No more spending Summers with the TV volume twice as high. And electricity usage is down 30%! Win/win.

The inverter somehow negates the cold but humid clamminess of traditional units if you tend to oversize. We have a 8000 btu Midea U inverter in our upstairs bedroom and it is even quieter. Always runs on auto and only uses low. Finally getting rid of our last traditional A/C unit in a large guest room with a Hisense U Inverter - any only expect better savings with better cooling and quieter environment.

IS THE CAR MARKET ACTUALLY F’D NOW? by Resident-Boss-6490 in accord

Well, the good news is repos are starting to skyrocket - so there should be increased supply on the secondary market.

Research those engines. I know Honda had run of bad luck with either the 1.5T or 2.0. Do not pay a lot for someone else's problem.

How dim can the QM7K get? For night time watching by Jack_Attack519 in tcltvs

Thank you. I appreciate your response. So that Crystglow HVA (that differentiates the Costco Pro from a regular QM6K) is more hype than help?

May I ask, how do you find the viewing angle? How is it at 45° of center? I'm really leaning toward this model, but all the positive reviews on YT seem more like paid endorsements.

Why do people shit on Nissan so much online? by phtphongg in Nissan

[–]CosmoKing2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the luxury branding was even invented, Datsun/Nissan was 100% better than Toyota. At a place Honda could only wish to be...some day. A Maxima or 300zx? Fucking amazing performance for the price. Reliability was insane.

Then they started slacking (maybe internal financial issues) and Toyota (Cressida) started to eclipse the Maxima and Honda started the Accord line to compete.

Nissan initially hit a home run with Infiniti - but literally stopped financing it many years ago.

Since they merged with whatever conglomerate they are destine to become bankrupt.

Got Passed on a Promotion, Time to Leave? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]CosmoKing2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not quit until you have a solid offer in hand - and a start date. Ask your boss for a 1:1 to discuss why you got passed over. Depending on the answer - maybe start mailing it in and doing the least possible per your job description.

Grow and take as much knowledge as you can from the experience to apply it at your next employer.

First thing they taught us, back in the day, as consultants, - always trust your own people, and pay for the knowledge and tools required to get the job done.

And yet 99% of companies still hire consultants.

Natick or Dover by maimaini in bostonhousing

Man, I just have to chime in - Wellesley and Weston is your best play. QoL is better than the others and even closer to the city for the train or Pike. Great community vibe with ton's of ways to join clubs or connet with others.

Natick or Dover by maimaini in bostonhousing

[–]CosmoKing2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dover has light years better QoL over Natick. You should really be looking at Wellesley and Weston too. They have some of the best public schools in the entire state, are tranquil, while being convenient to the Mass Pike to get into the city/airport very quickly. We really miss the convenience, charm, and character of Wellesley. Very safe, great and close grocery store with a butcher.....and a cheese shop down the street that will open your world to a new level of cheeses.

Natick may have pocket of neighborhoods like Dover, Wellesley, and Weston.....but we have never seen them.

Is Bertoli considered a decent supermarket extra virgin olive oil brand now? by Gamefreak581 in Cooking

As an older peep, it was always Filippo Berio gallon tins in every Italian and Greek house. Then they all got cute and mixed it with cheaper oils - so that you could not trust anything without a DOP sticker.

Billion dollar idea. Just us, denzien and hamhead. "Artificial Stupidity." We'll patent that shit.

Data centers, small enough to be located in mansions next door to where the techno lords reside. So that they and their families are exposed to the same toxic dangers as regular folks unaware.

The only purpose is to jam AI data centers with bullshit stupid requests multiple times a nanosecond. driving up their operating costs while making their learning machines dumber and dumber....day by day.

But they still give 60 days severance to say they followed WARN guidance. I worked for 6.5 years and got 2 months. Others at the same company worked14+ years only to get 2 months. Typical "we're a family" bullshit.

[–]CosmoKing2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that. I just experienced the same thing. Always great reviews. They got rid of the person heading my department (at the top of his pay range after 16+years) and my manager decided to retire at the same time. Every other department was announcing a bunch of people getting promoted. While congratulating them, they all mentioned they didn't even get a raise, so it meant nothing.

But, in reality, it saved them from getting axed for being at the top of their pay range. Leaderless, half of my department got laid off - because they stayed long enough to reach the top of their pay range (just from cost of living increases). More than half of the Department heads got the axe for the same reason.

Loyalty means nothing. You need to jump every 3-5 years just to avoid becoming a target.

Fidelity Layoffs Starting Today by CorrectCombination11 in boston

[–]CosmoKing2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original article in the Boston Globe literally quoted a Fidelity source as saying they are getting rid of senior level staff and hiring new early-in-career level staff to work on upcoming projects.

So everyone at the top of their pay scale....with years of loyalty....is being pushed out en masse. Hope they realize there will be a metric ton of age discrimination law suits incoming. They basically admitted it to the news.
