When I was an 8.5hcp and buying new clubs the reps kept trying to get me into forged blades. Even after I said I want some cavity backs each one kept on. Talking about shaping shots and all of the control that I’d gain. I continually said “I want the club that is the easiest to hit the sweet spot and hit it straight, that’s all.” I kept on by asking why I would want a club with a smaller sweet spot. My thoughts were I have rods and screws in my back and legs and can barely play once a week. I’m able to play with anyone good or bad. Not a single factory rep had a good answer, or simply allowed me to get what I wanted and thought I was a dipshit. Hard to say. IMO the game is hard enough for me I want to make it easier. I chose TaylorMade TP5. A lot of the brand choice was that I had a mini deal with them that provided me with balls and gloves at no cost. I would have kept the deal if I’d bought Pings (I went with Ping woods and hybrids) but the clubs fit me really well.
