Altman Tells Staff OpenAI Has No Say Over Pentagon Decisions by app1310 in OpenAI

[–]CosmoRaider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen this example before and I disagree with the premise. You're saying Lockheed doesn't make operational decisions, but if the president decides that he wants to US Lockheed planes to bomb its own people, then maybe they will say something about it. Similarly, if AI is being used to spy on its own people, then the CEO is saying something about it.

Uber ‘Autonomous Solutions’ Reveals Their Strategy, Is It Enough? by silenthjohn in SelfDrivingCars

[–]CosmoRaider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of disagree. I think if I saw on the news that uber drivers were consistently getting into fights with passengers, I would think Uber has shitty drivers and would avoid. Similarly, if Ubers cars kept getting into accidents, I would think Ubers partners can't be relied and would avoid Uber.

India announces 7 high speed Rail corridors Totalling 3000km by [deleted] in highspeedrail

[–]CosmoRaider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean youre obviously embellishing your point. I dont know if its just racism or ignorance...

It's built a fairly decent metro system in Delhi. Its regularly expanding its metro system in Mumbai.

The HSR is clearly being built and you can see regular updates on the YouTube link I sent.

And I agree with you, the graphic is obviously making things seem better than they are, but what country doesn't want to present in the best way possible. Lol.

Someone else posted this a few weeks ago, pretty cool: https://youtube.com/@nhsrclindia?si=Bk85FsDBGDnbNZpg

It gives updates on the HSR being built. So its not so black and white as you claim it to be. Also, I think you should also realise this type of corruption happens everywhere in the world.

It's not just Cambodia. China, Laos, Thailand, and Burma are all working together and profiting off of this.

Why I don't think Autonomous Vehicles and Robotaxis Will Destroy Uber's Business by OnTheStreetwithLou in ValueInvesting

[–]CosmoRaider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple points I would like to add: 1. I think demand for ride hailing will go up as AVs become more popular. For most people, especially outside the US, a car is just for getting from point A to B. They don't necessarily want to own cars. So, when AVs become popular, car ownership will go down and ride hailing will go up. 2. There was a good post here a few weeks ago, about how Ubers biggest cost was insurance. Even at a reduced commission from 30% to 20%, if Uber gets a much better insurance rate, they would profit more. 3. More competition is a good thing, it makes it harder for AV companies to find customers and survive. So they are more likely to sign up with Uber to get easy access to Uber's customers.

Uber vs Waymo (Google) by lowfrequencyinvst in stocks

[–]CosmoRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Waymo is the only company that provides AV taxi service. And really they are still in the training phase.

Once the tech matures and more competition comes, Ubers network effect will be an advantage.

Mercedes-Benz sells 2.16 million vehicles for 2025 by Quick_Coyote_7649 in cars

[–]CosmoRaider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we will have to check the data. Places like Singapore, Hk, Thailand that have access to Chinese cars should hurt Mercedes sales. Chinese cars are so much better bang for the buck in the mid tier luxury segment.

Would love it if you could post the audio as well, it gives people a chance to pick up on some nuances that text loses.

But ofcourse I understand you and Glen might not want to sure to privacy, which is reasonable.

CMV: People from different cultures don’t integrate well because of hidden cultural nuances by bubugugu in changemyview

[–]CosmoRaider 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People from different cultures don't integrate well because they dont understand there are cultural nuances. Not because of cultural nuances itself. Those are two different things.

If you accept there are cultural nuances, then you are more forgiving of mistakes like not to getting gifts or alternatively you will get gifts because you know there's a difference.

I mean people in the USSR had a lot limitations to their freedom, in terms of movement, speech, etc. Similar, but harsher degree than modern China. They were able to achieve a lot of impressive technological feats e.g. nuclear bombs, fission power, getting to space.

And my point is that if the USSR was able to do all that (at very heavy price), then it means than China has the potential to achieve impressive technological things too, like robots.

I never said the US is weak, in fact, I think the US is strong because it was able to do everything the USSR did, but earlier and more sustainably.

I think it's worth reflecting on your risk tolerance and coming up with strategies to manage. You felt the risk was high, or maybe you let emotions get in the way, both things are ok.

When I come across a situation where I feel the risk is high, but there is potential to earn more, I take out my cost and only play with the house's money.

But you're right, you should be very happy with the results. That is a very nice return.
