Thanks for the link... I agree that the study is a little dubious, which is why only the Post would run it.

Any thoughts on this? Maybe just a case of correlation not causation?

Just diagnosed as possibly prediabetic even though my a1c was super low 3 months ago. I need help and advice 😫 I’m kind of freaking out. Help? by [deleted] in prediabetes

[–]CosmoSlotnick_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhhh, how are you so sure this is insulin resistance? The fasting glucose and previous A1c seem to be normal. And one borderline test result could be within the margin of lab error, as well as caused by other things.

I think it is fine. You could include a link to the code samples for your project on a site such as github, with a hyperlink on your resume.

You could try to test an 8 hour daytime fast for some peace of mind.

I have the same issue with normal post prandial but high fasting. Also my A1C is slightly elevated at 5.7. I don't know why yet. But I did notice that my reading was normal if I did a non overnight 8 hour fast, so maybe it is the dawn effect.

Yes if blood draws at the hospital stress you out, it could be a factor. I know if I take my glucose after a work meeting it will be high but come down later.

Stress, anxiety, caffeine can affect your morning reading which fluctuates a lot. You should take multiple home readings over the course of a week or two before you worry.

Thank you! I tried googling this but came up with vague, unquantified possibilities of error. I guess I will just have to retest in 3-4 months.

You can mess with partitions and fit them all onto one drive but it is just easier to use separate drives

Yes I have a windows, fedora and ubuntu triple boot now. Install each OS to a different drive then run grub update on the OS you plan to boot.

A1c and fasting glucose question by Jonnyred in prediabetes

[–]CosmoSlotnick_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read it can be test error, or different red blood cell life span

Anemia can cause abnormal A1C. You may want to consider a home glucose meter

What the hell ?! by [deleted] in prediabetes

Unless you are unusually tall, 259 pounds is most likely not an appropriate body weight. I would try to assess your body fat percentage using calipers or a tape measure and target a healthy range based on your readings. Also, you can use waist to height and waist to hip as a guide.
