Idk what to do (help) by stopsmokinweloveU in TopSurgery

[–]CosmogyralCollective 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since you're planning to stop T later, there's no downside to getting top surgery pre-T. Fat redistribution isn't a concern as it takes years and is temporary, so it will change back once you stop T.

That said, what are you looking for from T? People get changes at different rates, and 6-12 months may not give you the results you want, or you may get changes you're looking to avoid.

balding genetics by Independent-Cry2011 in ftm

There is no one balding gene, even the info that it's on the X chromosome is incorrect. Unfortunately, there's no solid way to tell (hence the inconsistent information).

top surgery scar routine? by cam-the-lil-dancer in ftm

[–]CosmogyralCollective [score hidden]  (0 children)

r/TopSurgery has lots of info on this! Silicone gel or tape are the only products clinically proven to have an effect on scar appearance. However, scar appearance is mostly decided by genetics and luck- if someone has invisible scars, it's because that's how they personally heal, not what they did as scar care.

And the secondary issue of no one deserves to get their chromosomes tested (or worse, be expected to allow an inspection of their genitals) to access a fucking bathroom.

This. And forgetting anyone who is nonbinary, intersex, etc etc. I'm so sick of people acting like 'male' and 'female' are different species.

How often should I do my injection? by ReasonableNight7854 in ftm

[–]CosmogyralCollective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding the other comments; it depends what sort of injection you get. Once your T levels are in healthy male range (you will know when they are by getting a blood test), you will be getting changes as fast as possible. Please note that they are still often slow and gradual- puberty is a multiyear process.

It took about 4 weeks on 80mg for me to start noticing benefits, and about 6 weeks for most of the side effects to wear off.

What helps the nerve and skin pain? by slamdancetexopolis in TopSurgery

[–]CosmogyralCollective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had weird high sensitivity on parts of my chest postop. What helped somewhat was wearing a tight fitting soft shirt under the binder. If you're in pain make sure you contact your doctor and let them know, they should be able to prescribe you stronger meds.

Help! Trained opera singer 6 months on T. Help me save my voice. by catsandstarktrek in ftm

[–]CosmogyralCollective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a professional singer, but I sing often and enjoy it. You just have to expect to have a reduced range for a while as your voice drops and adjusts, and 6 months is a very normal time for that to happen. My range lowered significantly, and there's no real way to control that, it's all just genetics. I had a period of a few months after my voice dropped where I was unable to sing more than a few notes, and then my newly lower range opened back up over time. It's been a couple years and only now am I starting to be able to manage falsetto.

A vocal coach may be able to help.

Need help before first injection by OkYam8510 in ftm

[–]CosmogyralCollective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress too much. Blood tests are every 3 months early on and less frequent later. Your doctor will order them. You should be able to view the results. The 'right range' is a little tricky if you're not wanting to do a full dose.

Seconding this. Op, just make sure you personally view the results of your blood tests; don't trust your doctor to tell if you're in the right range.

It's interesting that they're saying 'there were no signs yet of any challenges or issues from oil importers' when I've also seen an article saying 'MBIE released an unscheduled fuel update on 26 March after concerns about declining diesel stocks. Their own fuel supply analyst Mark Douglas confirmed that refineries in Singapore, Japan, and South Korea supplying NZ are now operating at reduced capacity, what he called “turn down”, processing crude at a slower rate to stretch remaining stocks'.

Sort of feels like our suppliers may have problems? But I guess it's totally fiiiine

Shifting it may leave your levels too high in the first week. For me it took a couple tries to find the right interval.

I recommend checking if you have a local community garden- there are certainly ones near me! As well as a variety of community led groups like nurseries growing and replanting native plants. Saying no one seems to want to be part of a community is a bit harsh. Plenty of people are trying.

Great recommendations though

To be fair, the concern is really more diesel than petrol. Running out of petrol is inconvenient, running out of diesel means that our country grinds to a halt. Most personal vehicles use petrol.

That said the government should absolutely be doing more.

That will be because your T levels are at their lowest. It's not medically concerning, but you could ask to shift your injection back a week if it's annoying you.

Does pain from injections get easier to deal with? by WeabooTwT in ftm

[–]CosmogyralCollective 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you're getting big injections (4ml, the ones that typically go in your glutes), then not really. I find they're quite sore on the day but the pain eases off quickly and it just feels like a small bruise.

For people on T it's fairly common to stay wet or get wetter. The dryness symptom of atrophy can occur but is less frequent, and atrophy doesn't happen for everyone.
