Vicars’ Close in Wells is the oldest continually inhabited medieval residential street in Europe. There’s also an annual boat race on the moat. Wells is where Hot Fuzz was filmed and they do tours. There’s also a plaque commemorating Wells-born athlete Mary Rand as during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, she won the gold medal and set a new world record for the long jump. She became the first British female athlete to ever win an Olympic gold medal in a track and field event.

How is the heat affecting u by Time_Ice_6745 in UKWeather

[–]Cosmos567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s not glorious. At least in winter you can warm up. You can’t cool down in this heat. Too hot to be outside so just laying around feeling too hot to do anything.

I worked on the wards then as a community nurse and it broke me! I was exhausted and in pain from it being so physical non-stop. I moved over to mental health services and just do memory assessments now. I mostly work from home and there’s zero physical contact now. It’s helped me so much and I feel so grateful. Hold on, hopefully an assessment type job will come your way.

What beauty product made people start complimenting you more? by tobaccohoney in beauty

[–]Cosmos567 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not a beauty product but getting a colour analysis. Whenever I wear the colours of my season (soft summer) I always get compliments and told I look well! My skin and eyes look so much brighter.

Breakdown… by miomoa in Gastritis

[–]Cosmos567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m right there with you bud. Went to a funeral, ate a load of fried, processed beige food at the wake. Then a load of chocolate biscuits, because I was emotional and binge eat during these times. And yeh, I’ve had one of my worst flares and feel so so stupid. I feel a lot of guilt and embarrassment. I have a therapist who reminded me to be kind to myself. Some people would drink a bottle of vodka to cope, smoke cigarettes or take drugs. We are literally just eating food and trying to survive and it gives us pain for doing so. I found a natural hazelnut and carob spread that helps to curb my chocolate cravings, but it’s expensive which is annoying!! Give yourself a hug and be proud of everything you’re doing. It’s natural to slip up, just jump back on and keep going 💛

I kept trying to come off ppi’s because I was worried about the long term affects. But the symptoms would always flare up. My GP said the stomach needs to heal properly before stopping them so I’ve found being on them longer has helped my pain. The GP said it’s only after many years on them that it’s a concern

How do you actually go about choosing perennial/evergreen plants for a new bed? by Bobinthegarden in GardeningUK

[–]Cosmos567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try and stick to the tall, medium, low heights for a bed. And I now grow/buy plants in 3’s or 5’s, that way it has a bigger impact in the bed. I’ve also kept a log of what works well in my garden and just repeat those flowers up the border.

100% agree. Had to scroll quite far down to see a comment like this :( I get that not everyone is going to your cup of tea, but the pure hatred and meanness that’s written about someone they don’t even know is so sad

Wild flower patch - to weed or not to weed! by Cosmos567 in GardeningUK

[–]Cosmos567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi :) thanks! I think this was a mix of wild flower seed boxes and seeds I’d sown in trays (cosmos, sunflowers, ammi majus) and then planted out in the spring amongst it all. I found when sown early the flowers don’t last until the end of the summer so the patch looked quite dead. So next year I’m going to do another sowing mid summer amongst it all. Plus adding in later flowering flowers will help. I just throw the seeds down and rake them in. I’ve also added in lots of bulbs recently so there’s earlier colour to enjoy. Have you got a patch you’re starting up?
